■ Mrs. Joe Freedman of Eockland, Sask., was a recent visitor in Vancouver, the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mazelow. Mrs. Freedman left last week for Los Angeles, where she will spend several months, and will again visit in Vancouver enroilte to her home.

Miss Bessie Steinberg was the guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower given Wednesday afternoon, August 12, at the home of Mrs. Dina Lotz-kar. Fifty guests were present, and bridge was enjoyed during the afternoon, prize winners being Mrs. E. Gold, Mrs. B. Lomdin, and Mrs. L. Angel. Many lovely gifts were presented to the guest of honor. Assisting Mrs. Lotzkar at the tea table were Mrs. Jennie Hersog and Miss
Eay Isaaeovitz.

! Mrs. L. Goodman has returned from an extended trip tlirough Eastern Canada and United States. On Tues-:day evening last she was a bridge hostess at her home, when many of her friends came to welcome her.

with them Mrs. Cohen's brother, Harry Pelzman.

An engagement of interest to many friends on the Pacific Coast is that which was announced recently in Augusta, Georgia, by Colonel and Mrs. Abrani Levy of their daughter, Dorothy, to Mr. iiee Morse., son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Morse of San Francisco. Miss Levy, who is a graduate of the University of Georgia Law School, is a member of the August Chapter of the "Daugliters of the American Revolution." Mr. Morse is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and is a member of a leading San Francisco brokerage house and has made a wide circle of friends in Vancouver where he has visited on several occasions.

Mrs. A. Snitkan and her little son, Bobby, of Calgary, who was a house guest for the past two months of her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. Snitkan, Moss Street, has returned to her home in Calgary.

Mrs. S. Black and Mrs. A. Snitkan have returned from a short holiday spent in Seattle.
Berlin, Aug. 12. The annual prize of the International Federation of University Women for the best piece of scientific work by a woman was awarded to Betti Heiman, the daughter of a well-known Hamburg Jewish family.
Fraulein Heiman, who is thirty-three years old, holds a lectureship at the University of Halle in Indian philosophy. It was her work in this field that won for her the prize.
