CounciFs Year

The closing function for Junior Council activities for the season, was the Mothers and Daughters Tea, which was held on Mothers' Day, at the Jewish Community Centre. Members, friendSj and mothers who attended this function, all voted it a great success. At this event officers for the coming season were installed by Mrs. H. B. Kahn, President of the Council of Jewish Women, at an impreasive ceremony. The few members who missed this affair, probably heard about it from the enthusiastic members who attended.
Past President Miss Euth Morris, is to be commended upon her program. Despite the most trying circumstances, she carried off the year's work very creditably.
An Annual Membership Eally. an Annual Theatre Party, and' several Bridge eveniffgs were all social and financial successes.
Fun Night, which is the Junior Council's Annual Kid's Party was much enjoyed'. Big kids and little kids, in rompers and dainty frocks had| a grand time. Fun Night siarteu with Oranges and Lemons, and ended with pinning the Donkey's Tail. At this time-it:ris.4n-order to- extend heartiest thanks to the Jossem sisters, for the loan of their beautiful home where this party was staged'.
Thanks are due to many for what they have done to help Junior Council undertakings, sueli as loaning their homes for Bridge parties^ donating prizes and giving of their time and means to assist Junior Council. The executive and members of the organization appreciate this co-operation.
A feature of Junior Council program that has given much pleasure; to the members, is the regular reading and literary circles;, held in various homes throughout the season. These gatherings have added much to the cultural and intellectual advancement of those participating and should be heartily encouraged.
The Valentine Dance was the event of the year. The Juniors never fail.

The final scene of the Confirmation services held on Sunday, June 26.. was enacted in the Glen Hospital, immediately following the service. The four Confirmands, Audrey Evans, Esther Weston, Gertrude Rankin and Kenneth Kahn, accompanied by Mrs. B. A. Mallin.. Chairman of Eeligious Classes of the Council of Jewish Women, and Mr. Alfred A. Evans, visited the Hospital to thank their teacher, Mr. S. A. Goldston, Principal of the Eeligious Classes, for his work and to receive his congratulations.
Surrounding his bed, they expressed their gratitude and left with him their confirmation bouquets as a tribute of their love and respect.
Mr. Goldston has requested us to tend'dr his personal thanks to the children, to Mrs. Mallin, and to the Eev. Pastinsky, who officiated in his absence, for their kindness, which he very deeply appreciates.
Pastinskys Guests of Grand Rabbi Judah Leib
Honor at Surprise Party Auerbach of Jerusalem
On the occasion of their Silver Wedding, Eev. and Mrs. N. M, Pastinsky were guest of honor at am. enjoyable surprise party, held at the Jewish Community Centre on Sunday, June 26j when about two hundred friends assembled' to do them honor.
Mr. J. B. Jaffe, as Presidient of the Congregation Schara Tzedeck, acted as toastmaster for the evening, and after refreshments were served', the' many friends assembled voiced their appreciation and love for Eev. and Mrs. Pastinsky.
Amongst the many speakers of the evening were Mr. Wm. N. Zimmerman, Mrs. H. E. Kahn, Mr. A. Eothstein, Mr. K. Katznelson, Mr. E. M. Goldsmith, Mr. A. Horen, Dr. M. Fox, Eabbi M. Jaffee, Mr. P. Pearlman, Mrs. M. Koenigsberg, Mrs. S. A, Nemetz, Mr. M. L. Greene, Mr. B. Victor, Mrs. J. G. Shubb, Mr. Louis Halperin, Mr. D. Morris, Mrs. E, Miller, Mr. W. J. Levin, Mr. D. Davis, Mrs. GeShaye, Mr. Ben Pastinsky, Mr. Harris of Montreal, Mr. Jules Ablowitz, Mr. N. C Levin, Mr. S. Eothstein, Mr. B. Margolius, Mrs. L. Goodman and others.
Vocal selections were contributed by Mr. K. Katznelson, Mr. H. Sirlin, Mr. A. Eothstein. Mr. B. Victor, and community singing was enjoyed by all present.
Mr. J, B, Jaffe, the toastmaster for the evening, on behalf of the assembly, extended thanks to Mrs. Leo. Nemetz, Mrs. L. Goodsnan, Mr. P. Pearlman, Mrs. Sirlin^ and Mrs. A. Wbsk, for their work in connection with arrangements for the surprise party.
Many telegrams and messages of congratulations and good wishes were read by the chairman, from organizations, and .friends who were not present at the gathering.
On behalf of fourteen organizations in the community, Mr. J. B. Jaffe presented a beautiful chest of silver to Mr. and Mrs. Pastinsky. Organizations making this gift were Congregation Schara Tzedeck; Jewish Community Chest; Samuel Lodge B. B.; Chevra Kiddisliah; Cemetery Board; Zionist Organization; Talmud Torah Ladies Auxiliary; Hebrew Aid Society; Achduth Society; Council of Jewish Women; Jewish Community Chest; Lillian Freiman Chapter of Hadassah and B'nai B'rith Ladies Auxiliary.
Eev. Pastinsky, in responding to the many messages of friendship and good wishes, pointed out that all his Avork depended upon tlie untiring work and efforts of his beloved wife.
Tlie evening closed' with the singing g£ the "Hatikvah" and "God .Save the King."

Eabbi Judah Leib Auerbacli
Grand Eabbi of Jerusalem, Eabbi Judak Leib Auerbach, arrived on Tuesday last, for- a (jriel" visit here.
Eabbi Auerbach is the Dean of the Cabbala of the noted Yishavah of the Eeligious Seminary in Jerusalem. He has motored to Vancouver from New York.
While in New York, Rabbi Auerbach was received by Mayor Walker^ and greeted very cordially. A huge banquet was tendered there in his iionor.
Eabbi Auerbacli will address a Mass Meeting at the Schara Tzedeck Synagogue on Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m. He will also speak at the Synagogue on Saturday morning, July 2, at 10:30.. and on Saturday afternoon, "Sholuth Shudoth," Avhen his subject will be '' The Mystic Side of the Philosophy of Cabbala."
He is a distinguished and magnetic personality, and has thrilled the thousands whom he has addressed in various United States cities. Vancouver Jewry arc fortunate to have the opportunity of' hearing this illustrious Eabbi.

The month of June is apparently a favorite montli for Jewish weddings. On behalf of the Community we extend to the following hearty congratulations and best wishes for a long continuation of their happiness.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zimmerman, who were married on June 25, 1912.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Lipson, wlio were married on June 2G, 1912.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Goldsmith, who were married on June 23, 1924.
Dr. and Mrs. J. I. Gorosh, who were married on June 28, 19£'5.

Classes Confirmation
Solemnly Observed
On Sunday, June 26, at the Jewish Community Centre, an impressive Confirmation Service was observed, when four graduates of the Eeligious Classes declared their acceptance o-f the faith of their fathers.
Confirmands were Audrey EvanSj Esther; Weston, Gertrude Eankin and Kenneth Kahn.
Mr. S. A. Goldston, Principal or the Eeligious Classes, owing to illness, was absent.
Eev. N. M. Pastinsky kindlj' accepted the invitation of the Council of Jev/ish Women, to serve' for Mr. Goldsten, and officiated in a solemn and inspiring manner. Thanks are extended' by the Council of Jewish Women, to Eev. Pastinsky, and also to Mr. J. B. Jaffe, President of the Schara Tzedeck Congregation, fO'r consenting to taking this service for the Council Sabbath School. The unity in our community, as exemplified by this co-operation between Congregation Schara Tzedeck and Council Eeligious Classes, is worthy of Jiighest iyraiaO.
Eev. Pastinsky explained to the assembly that the Confirmation Service as carried out is the one approved by Eabbi Hertz, Chief Eabbi of Orthodox Congregations of Great Britain.
Mrs. B. A. Mallin^ Chairman of Re-ligiousi Classes spoke about the work of the Eeligious Glasses, and the significance of this Confirmation as a climax to the year's work. She voiced her regrets at the unavoidable absence of Mr. Goldston, and expressed thanks to Mr. Goldston and toi the teachers who had so faithfully given of their time.
Mrs, Harold B. Kahn, President of the Council of Jewish W^men, extended thanks to the parents for their interest and co-operation in Eeligious Classes, and regretted that attendance in the past year had fallen down. The Eeligious Classes next year will be under the capable supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brown, and tlie hope was expressed that more parents would realize the value of the religious education that was offered here.
Students in each class were awarded rolls of honor for proficiency and attendance. Eecipients of honor rolls are as follows: Shirley CoheUj Larry Levine, Zelda Goodman, Philip Kost-man, Irving Koenigsberg, Harold Kahn, Marion Mallin. A special Honor Eoll was awarded to Master Jack Eose, for obtaining highest grades in all the classes.
The four Confirmands spoke tiieir beautifully selected orations. The subjects were as ifollows: Audrey Evans spoke on "Jcv.'ish Beliefs;'* Kenneth Kahn^ "Prayer;" Esther Weston, "Faith;" and Gertrude Eankin, "Wisdom and Understanding."
Mrs. H. Bj Kalin, on behalf of the Council of Jewisli Women, presented Union Prayer Books to tlie four Confirmands.
