Young Judaea News
An informal meeting of the executive of the Young Judaea Club was held at the Jewish Community Centre on Sunday evening last, when visiting Judaeans from Regina, Mr. I. B. Helman, and Mr. Isadore Hamer met the local boys.
Young Judaea Groups in Prairie Cities have been organized for many years, and are carrying on intensive programs for cultural, national and social advancement. In the Prairie cities interesting .and enjoyable intercity programs are carried on. Cultural activities, debates, dramatics, oratorical contests, are enthusiastically entered into. Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, and many smaller way points have enthusiastic and promising Judaea Clubs, and are all linked together at frequent intervals for their work and play.
The Vancouver Club is the farthest West, and has in the past been isolated from Judaea Clubs in other parts of Canada.
Mr. Helman, who is Chairman of Publicity for the forthcoming Young Judaea Convention in December in Regina, in addressing the boys, stressed the desirability that Vancouver Club make its contact with the other Canadian Centres by having delegates attend the Convention.
Mr. Helman also outlined to the local club's executive thei plans and programs followed in other Centres, and made many valuable suggestions for the advancement of the local group.
At the present time the Young Judaea Club membership is composed only of boys. It is expected that in the near (future, girls will be invited to join this group.
The local Judaeans' baseball team thus far had a very successful season, and the sports chairman has advised tliat the team stands' a good ■cha:nce • of winning first place in tlie city league. They will play the division finals next Aveek. All players are urged to come to practises Avlien called by Captains.
