The Meribolas League got away in grand style at La Salle alleys last Monday afternoon with practically a full turnout on hand. Brotman's took two out of three from Koenigsberg, Levins did likewise to the Herman aggregation, and the Lechtzier team made it a clean sweep over the Koch crew. President Pearl Herman shot the high single of the day with a nice 243 score, Tillie Lechtzier celebrated her return to the gam© by copping high three-game honours with consistent games of 215, 221, and 206. Eva Brotman shot two nice games at 217 and 209 for an aggregation of 564, and Jeanette Chess was up there with a very nice 536. In the B'nai B'rith League a large turnout was on hand last Wednesday evening and some very fine scores were turned in by Aaron Kline with 579. Dave Franks with 565 and Ike Goldberg with 558.

The first meeting of the Aleph Zadik Aleph Fraternity, Vancouver, chapter No. 119, was held at^ the Community Centre on Sunday, September 10, 1933, and consisted of a regular business session and entertainment which proved exceedingly popular with all the assembled Alephs.
Highlights of the meetings were the singing of songs, telling of jokes, and last but not least the pantomime "Adam and Eve in- the Garden of Eden", being Episode 1 of a series of pantomimes entitled "Great Moments of History". Needless to say this affair was a tremendous success. Those participating were: Adam—Charles Kemp; Eve—Sam Gurevitch; Doctor Grindem Kishkess—Isadore Mackoff; Snake-in-the-Grass—Morris Chernov;

Throughout the Western Judaean Centres In Canada the respective clubs are in the midst of their preparation of one of the most hotly contested of all Judaean undertakings, the Baltzan Memorial trophy. .Fop years young professional men, youthful lawyers, and striving university graduates of Judaean affiliation have matched their wits, the trophy.their.object.
This year The Vancouver Young Judaeans have decided to join in the conflict. Although the local team will probably be by far, the most youthful entering into the competition, nevertheless they mean to make their opponents put forth their greatest effort to eliminate them at the wayside.
The eliminations for the local club will be arranged immediately. The contestants have already been arranged into teams, the subject of the debate to be given later. Any member, either boy or girl, who have up to date not made known their intention to enter, must do so at once. In all probability the two most successful debaters (not necessary the same team entered into the elimination), will journey to Regina for the first round. The opportunity thus offered to the members is of momentous significance and all are urged to make the most of j it. All expenses of the trip will be defrayed by the other centre.
On October 25th the Young Judaeans plan to put forth their biggest undertaking yet embarked upon, a fall dance. In order to spare no effort in making this affair a memorable event the dance committee " has launched forth every effort to obtain the best of everything. One of the most renowned orchestras in the city have been hired for the occasion. Several unusual events will be the highlights of the occasion. On Sunday, September 17, will mark the official amalgamation of the two senior Judaean groups. To mark the affair an elaborate program has been arranged. Election for the coming season will also take place. The tennis trophies will also be presented to the winners. The meeting is set for 8 o'clock and all members are ' urgently requested to be on hand.

PRAGUE — Prof. Theodor Lessing, famous German-Jewish philosopher and refugee from Nazi Germany, was assassinated at his Marienbad villa on August 31st. Les.eir^g was one of the most active workers in the pacificist movement in Germany. He represented German idealistic philosophy at its best one of the finest and gentlest types who ever wrote on the subject. His love for man kind motivated his whole life. He was persecuted as few men have been, for qualities that would have endeared him anywhere else in the world. He lived in poverty all his life.
If conscience conflicts with the will of humanity as expressed by the Stale, then conscience must be wrong.
No truth or goodness realized by man ever docs or can die, but all is still there and, recognized or not, lives and works through endless ages.
Montreal Star Condemns Canadiai! Hitler Group; Urges Govermment Act
MONTREAL—An. editorial attack on efforts to organize swastika clubs in Canada was made here in the influential Montreal Star under the caption, "No Hitlerism in Canada."
Referring to press reports of "a new organization strongly anti-Semitic with aims to produce a Dominion-wide movement against those who unscrupulously hinder the advancement of Gentile rights in our country," the Star calls it the "clear duty of Canadian governments, whether provincial or federal, to find out just how much truth is in the story. If any such organization," it goes on, "exists, it should be dealt with exactly as should any similar body which has for its supreme objects, the carryin-:? out of racial or religious conflicts in Canada."
