Victoria Edition
Rabbi
Rabbi Marcus Berner
Extends to the Jews of Vancouver, Victoria and all Israel his heartiGst wishes for the coming year. With the dangerous situation facing world Jewry at the present moment from the avowed enemies of Israel and from the indifference in our own ranks demands an activity and intelligence in those who would fight the dangers facing our nation that cannot be too great.
The source of this activity and inteUigence lies in the ever-fresh source of Israel, the Torah and the studies that have been based on it by the great minds of Israel. A return to this source will not only aid us in staving off the dangers that face us, but will also enrich our lives, make us happier men, better men, closer to God and to man.

Victoria Greetings
The Vancouver Jewish Community takes this opportanity of the High Holy Days to extend to the Victoria Jewish Community its sincerest regards and wishes for the coming year. On this occasion it is pertinent to draw the attention of Victoria's Jews to its unorganized state.
Victoria has always shown a strong sense of public duty both to the conmiimity as a whole and to the Jewish community of which it forms a part. This has been evidenced by the share Victoria Jews played in the public life of this province, and by the fact that Victoria was one of the first coast communities v/ith an organized Jewish life, a synagogue, etc.
Victoria has a glorious tradition and a long line of men devoted to the high cause of public service, and it is expected that this will become strengthened in the face of the new emergency before world Jev/ry.
The need in Jewry is too great and too widely recognized to allow any Jew, no matter where he lives, to shirk the responsibility of doing his utmost for our nation. The need of European Jewry, the state of our national reconstruction of Palestine, our own cultural and economic conditions are such that every Jew must put his shoulder to the wheel and do his share.
Certainly no whole town can afford to fail the nation at this critical moment.

Mayor
It gives me a great deal of pleasure to extend a kindly and affectionate greeting to the members of the Jewish colony in Victoria on the occasion of Rosh Hashhonah 5695.
The Jewish citizens of Victoria have always taken their place in the cultural and business welfare of the city of their adoption, and their activities have been written deeply into its history.
On behalf of the citizens I wish the whole of the Jewish Community in Victoria a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
