The b;B. Ladies' Auxiliary will resume their meetings starting Tuesday, September 5, at 8.00 p.m., in the Community Centre, after the usual summer lay-off. As this ■ meeting will be of importance, members are urged to be present so that the season will get off with a good start.

Mrs. A. F, Weiss, Osier Avenue, has returned to the city after an extended tour of the Eastern States, where she visited the World Fair in New vTork. On her return to Vancouver Mrs. Weiss was honoree at a dinner arranged by her relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Miller.
Mrs. B. Miller was hostess recently at her home to a series of luncheon s complimenting out-of-town guests, also local travellers returning to the city. Out-of-town guests entertained were Mrs. Phil Caplan, Portland; Mrs. Anna Steinberg, Seattle; and Mrs. Robert Crawford, Rossland, B.C., while local guests of honor were Mrs. M. Fouks and Mrs. A. F. Weiss who has recently- returned to the city after an absence
of four months.

Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Golub and small daughter Miriam Sheila recently joined, in Seattle, the former's Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. M. Sheck-ter, of Edmonton, who were -on their way home, from a motor trip to Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Exposition, Mr. Golub returning to Vancouver after a three-, day visit, while Mrs. Golub and Miriam Sheila joined Mr. and Mrs. Sheckter on their return to Edmonton, where they will be guests for six weeks. En route the party visited in Radium Hot Springs and Banff for a week.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parker are receiving congratulations on the birth of a son last Tuesday, August 22, at the General Hospital.
Mrs. M. Yamovich entertained at her home during the tea hour recently honoring Mrs. Esther Waxs-man of Detroit, Michigan.

Mrs. p. Hattenstone and her son, Solly, of Manchester, England, who have been the guests of the former's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. Groberman, are taking up permanent residence in Vancouver and are now residing at 2696 W. 42nd.
Mr. Hairy C. FTeedman has re-tiuTied from an extended trip in the United States and Canada visiting en route at the San Francisco Exposition and the New York World's Pair; In Montreal, Mr. Freedman renewed acquaintance with many old friends, following this visit with a trip to Niagara Falls and retimiing to Vancouver via the American route.

S'welegant Shirley Cohen headin' for Moose Jew after a 'story-book-like sojourn in California. . .Shirley Pincus in from Seat-'tle while we bade adieu suid the best 'of luck to Leon Cook off to study at the Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles and also to Art and Buih Simons off to 'Peg to live. . . .Heard of a leetle invasion of Bowen Island and warn't surprised to find the cause of it all were Vea Upson, Bella Izen, Anna JLeath, Ul Anderson and June Shapiro (of Seattle) )who cabinned for a week (with the bare necessities of life and who said anything about the stronger sex?) .Cavortin' at the English Bay Carnival we perceived Ed Eravitz sinking his teeth into one of those luscious whatchemacallits, Sam Jaao^ son and a bunch of charitable lads chippin' in their hard-earned pennies for Lou Wolfe and the weighing ing contest (P.S. there wuz a slight lowering of prices the next day In .the meat markets due to an influx of ^Kosher beef indirectly attributed to one group of fellows gettin' that old mince-meatty feelin'. ... Sam Stone .givin' the town the once over before headin' back to CJreston. .... ,11 Meyers of 'Peg handlin' the sitooa-tion at English Bay quite well (I dunno whether the blond, red-head or brunnette intrigued me the most) .... Circusing were Irv Herman, aRlph James and Norm Charkow . . all takin' in the sights (with animals only a minor consideration). ORT USES RE^ FOR TRAINING SCHOOL

Classes are conducted by ORT in the large camp at Zbonczyn, on the Polish border, to teach the refugees trades to facilitate their emigration to foreign countries which will admit skilled workers and farmers. The ORT refugee program, functioning also in Prance, Switzerland, Lithuania and Latvia, is becoming an increasingly important phase of the general ORT work of industrial and agricultural training. ORT's 346 activities aid the needy Jews of Europe by re-directing their occupational jlife from petty trading into the productive fields of artisansMp'and agricidture.
6.B. NEWS
Members of Vahcouver Lodge No. 668 B'nai B'rith are reminded that a regular meeting of the. lodge will be held in the Community Centre on Tuesday, September 5, at 8:15 pjn. A feature of this meeting will be the presentation of a complete report from Grand Lodge of anti-defamation activities in District No. 4.
The Grand Lodge has designated the period September 18 to November a, for an intensive membership campaign. Details of this campaign will be given at the meeting on Tuesday by the membership campaign chairman, Bro. J. I. Koffman.
A detailed report will also be given by Bros. Nathan T. Nemetz and B. Victor of the conference of the west-em division of the Canadian Jewish Congress recently held in Calgary.
The annual *Yom Kippur night dance will be held under the auspices of the lodge at the Vancouver Hotel on Saturday, September's. The committee in chaige is sparing no effort to make this a successful and enjoyable affair, and the co-operation of the entire community is earnestly requested.
Plans are also in progress for a gathering of the members of the B'nai B'rith Lodges of Vancouver, Victoria and Bellingham.
SEIZE VESSELS OFF PALESTINE COAST CARRYING REFUGEES
HAIFA (WNS). —The government forces took into custody three vessels carrying 800 Jewish refugees comprising survivoirs of the Panamanian steamship Rim which was destroyed by fire last montti off the Italian island of Rhodes. The vessels were a motor launch, schooner and sailboat, to which the refugees were transferred 30 miles off Palestine's coast.

Roosevelt in a letter of greeting to the Jewish War Veterans cn the occiasion of their 44th annual encampment here.
