FINAL CAMP NOTES
Council Camp came to the conclusion of a most successful season witli a closing dinner in the middle of August. The occasion for this affair was the dedication of the new administration building to Leah and Harold Kahn. Rabbi Samuel Cass conducted the service of dedication in the open, before the newly completed building. The charm of the outdoor setting and the presence of many old and new friends of camp made the event one to be remembered.
Dui-ing the camp season of six weeks 100 boys and girls had their holiday and also 24 mothers and women needing the holiday along with 26 children. Mother's camp was increased for the first time to a two week period. Camp committee is in receipt of a letter of thanks from the Camp Mothers praising the camp arrangements, the loyalty of the Mother's Camp supervisor, Mrs. Routledge, and the value of their holiday, in general.
Several innovations were present at the 1939 camp. Voted by children and mothers alike as best of all was the constant bus service instituted for the first time this year. A bus and driver remained on the campgrounds for the entire period and the trek to the beach and back was no longer necessary. The playfield completed in the spring was a tremendous improvement and made organized games and sports possible for boy's and girl's camp.
Two community dinners were held at camp, both well attended and Zionist groups used camp for a one day convention session the day of the closing dinner.
The weather man co-operated fully by providing fine days for almost the entire camp period. The large committee which devotes endless time and energy toward camp work deserves full credit for the successful conclusion of this year's effort.
