against the Jews in ttie "protectorate" were being taken in reprisal for diem-onstrations against Nazi authority in Czechia by Czechs, incited Jews abroad. _
The Essener National Zeitung, iPield Marshall Herman Goering's newspaper, asserted that Jews in Bohemia-Moravia are responsible for "lynig propaganda" against Germany. It reports that in Lentschau 17 persons were arrested, nearly all of them Jews lor posting "subversive literature."
MeanwhUe Reichsprotector Bjiron Constantin von eurath issued a decree that foreign Jews in the "protectorate" leave the country before the end of the year. This decree places in a precarious positiou ands of Slovakian Jewish refugees who fled to Prague in order to escape persecution at the hands of the Slovaks.
Informed soiurces here said that deportation to the Lublin "reservation" faces the thousands of Jews now being detained in concentration* camps throughout Bohemia-Moravia.
! PARIS (WNS).—Baron Constantin von Neurath, Reichsprotector of Bohemia-Moravia, was said to have been recalled to Berlin following the riots against the Nazi regime through out the "protectorate". - Usually reliable sources hinted that the action was motivated -by Hitler's displeasure at his lack of force in suppressing the anti-Nazi demonstrations.

Jews were forbidden to leave their
homes in Brno, Budweiss and Pilzen ^, „ . ^ .

Although the Nazis took strong measures to suppress the revolt, thousands of Slovaks marched through the principal streets of Bratislava shouting anti-Nazi slogans and tearing down anti-Semitic posters and signs on cafes and restaurants, putting up other placards reading "Germans forbidden".
It was fxirther disclosed that rioters stormed the concentration camp at Moravce and- set free Jews imprisoned there prior to deportation to the ghetto state in the vicinity of Lublin.

Sisterhood Oneg Shabbos This Saturday afternoon. Decern-
On Sunday evening, December 10th» Vancouver Jewry represented by their sphritual leaders, laymen, professiona] men, prominent business men, wlUi their wives, will fill to capacity the Lodge Hall in the Community Centre, at a banquet in honor of Rev. N. M. Pastinsky who is celebrating his 20th Anniversary^ in Vancouver. No words cf ours can adequately express the appreciation of tlie Jewish people Cf this city for the wonderful services that the Rev. Pastinsky has rendered to this community. For years he waJ9 the only Rabbi in Vancouver. His duties were multiple, yet with unselfish devotion to his people, he was at their beck and call twenty-four hours of the day. His heart went out to the poor in their distress, his help went to the immigrant: -he pleaded for those in trouble; the sick were ever in his mhid, yet he shouldered all their troubles tmmindful of the effect of such arduous work on his. own health. Of a kindly, lovable dLsposl-tion^ the Rev. Pastinsky has endeared himself to the communily, whose members, men, women and children through the years have manifested great affection and deep respect for him.
Not only is the Rev. Pastinsky beloved by his own people, but many non-Jews with whom he has contacted in the course jof his duties in this ,city, regard him as a man of sterling character, and of impeachable integrity, of honorable action. A man whom they are proud to have as a friend.
Unfortunately during the last year the Rev. Pastinsky has suffered a breakdown in health, which has necessitated him taking a much needed rest. The sympathy of the Commun-itgrgoes'tahfiri'^at"t2^ tfirie; afid'^we-all hope and pray, that he will be well again in the very near future.
We learn with much gratificatiott that the response of the Community to Rev. Pastinsky's Anniversary Banquet has been very good. There are a few tickets left yet, but these are expected to be taken up promptly, and we know they will, for it is an honor which we should all be proud of, to show our -appreciation in a practical manner to a Rabbi who has given of his best in order that our Community should enjoy the best, spiritually and materially.
A splendid program of entertainment has been arranged, with plenty of good 6ats, and during the evening a momento suitable for the occasion will be presented to Rev. Pastinsky.
ber 9th, the Oneg Shabbos gathering vdll be held in the home of Mrs. Nat Bell, 1550 W. 26th Ave. at 2:30 pjn.
Rabbi Cass will review Louis Gold-ing's "Mr. Emmanuel", and Channukah melodies will'be included in the program. Bring a friend with you.
