MEANS A LOT TO ALL OF USS
Yes, everyone agrees that B. C. Electric's big post-war development programme means a lot to the people of British Columbia.
It will provide plenty of low-cost gas and electricity for better living after the war.
It assures abundant low-cost power with which industry can expand and build greater payrolls, it means modern, co-ordinated transportation . . . easier, speedier riding in the latestrtype streamlined equipment.
Everyone -will benefit from the large local expenditures for labor and materials. And what's more, not one cent of the cost will be added to your tax bill. Developed by B.C. Electric, the entire programme is being financed by private investors.

Politicar Nignt Features Three Campaigners
e THE "Political Night" of the Canadian Hebrew Active Club held at the Pacific Athletic Club on October, 9 was unusually interesting.
The "dpeix debate between the three guest speakers; ^ Dr/G.'M. Weir,' CJoalition candidate in Bur-rard; Mrs. Steeves, MJj.A., North Vancouver riding; and Maurice Rush, L.P.P. candidate for Centre was as lively as anticipated. Sparked by pertinent and at times em-b&rassing questions and comments frpm- the audience,- the discussion' became' just as entertaining' ais it" was educational.
Maurice Rush was outstanding iii his eloquence and broad-minded interpretation of the provincial situation.; His challenge to theCCF for its failure to tmite on a" common labour objective had M&rs. Steeves doing some tall explaining.
IV&s. Steeves in her enunciation of CCF policies and dentmciation of-Cbalitibn possibilities-had Dr.' "Vtreir quoting Considerable facts and figures. ■
The manner in whidi the sfpeak-ers' took- polite but- shalrp -sideswipes at each otiier-delighted the members immensely. "Dr. Weir and I," said Mrs. Steeves, "believe in the same progressive ideas. The only difference between us-is that he intends to wait 25 years for them to tJ^e effect, I want them acted upon now."
Without doubt this type of democratic forum was without par in this present' election. The members of Canadian Hebrew -Active Club are to be commended upon the: intelligent, manner with which they responded on the floor to the questions involved. It could be seen by the candidates, that this was- no run-of-the-mill political rally; and they took heed of the warning ^ven by the Chairman, Bernard Reed, that no propaganda would be accepted.

Wosk, that a date would again be set for shortly, and members notified, for the nomination and election to beh eld for a complete executive.

Succoth Dinner Given Soldiers In Nanaimo
• WITH THE END of the Succoth Holidays, Jewish Servicemen now stationed at Nanaimo had quite a treat in store for them, but none could have imagined beforehand how swell that treat was going to be v.'hen many v.'ere in^ated to attend the Succoth dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farber, residing at 106 Fry Street. Although many were in-vrited, twelve Army personnel have attended. And with other Nanaimo guests, the total present amounted to over 20 persons.
Before dinner, a regular Jewish service was conducted by Mr. Jack Farber. The full course dinner was excellent. On compeltion of dinner, the singing of Jewish songs and Zmiroth began, and a grand time was had by all. Later in the evening fruit was served, and a miniature floor .show was put on by Misses Helen and Faye Farber. The grand evening came to an end with the serving of tea and cake.
It is the intention of all the Jewish Servicemen of Nanaimo to pay tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farber for the swell job that they have done to make all servicemen feel so much at home. Their home has been a haven for many who have been far away from their homes diu-ing the past five years. Words cannot describe the hospitality and friendship, the good meals and the open house Jack and Eva Farber have shown to countless of men from all walks of life. 'Ehe respect, and mail these grand people receive daily is proof that they -will not and have not been forgotten by himdreds of Servicemen who have passed through Camp Nanaimo.

• WE HAD A wonderful evening on Saturday, October 6th. For those who weren't there — the youth room at the centre was decorated appr<^riately with cartoons and gaily colored streamers, by our Dance Committee. To start the ball rolling; a bingo dance was cedlied,^ and all couples had a grand ' time rotating from parthe rto part-;;n*..^e ftext on the list of novel ideas was a leg show in which four boys took part. The grand time rotating from partner to part-prize, a bottie of leg make-up, was won by Mortem Dodeck. He then showed the gals how to apply it. Then came the eliihination dance, which was won % Al' Gel-mon and his partner, Rosemary Fox. The final event of the'even-, ing was a bottie and'hippie eolith. Four boys and four' gurls helped us out here. The proiid imnh&td, Lilly Moskovitz and Morrie CoheA looked happy and pleased-^en though slightly the worse for wear. Of course; being a Sadie -Haw-kin's Dance the girls- had plenty of chance to catch their men during the many Ladies' choices. Yes, indeed, a good time was had by all, and more good times are being planned.
Don't miss the next social meeting to be held October 18th at the home of Rena Zabensky, 604 West 12th Ave. A good program is planned and all members and prospective members should attend. The time is 7:45 sharp. Please be on time, as we wish to complete our business in short order.
