Passes Away
Mr. George Koltano\vski, World famous Blindfold Chess Champion will visit Vancouver on October mh, nth and 12th. Chess players in this city are anxiously awaiting his visit. The famous chess master, lectiurer, and author of chess books will play simultaneous blind-fold chess. He is coming on ithe invitation of the Vancouver Jewish Chess Club and the Vancouver Chess Club.
Mr. A. Helman was the successful winner of the 1346 club championship and the A. Rothstein trophy, of the Vancouver Jewish Chess Club. Mir. Helman, a former Manitoba Chess C3il3mpion, won this toiunament after a hard struggle and played against the strongest opponents in the club.
The Vancouver Jewish Chess Club gained a new strong player in the person of Mr. M. Wain-vi^right. Mr. Wainwright has participated in many national tournaments and is consHdered an ex-pei-t chess player. He is exceptioiv ally good in playing "Kriegspiel," a game played by two opponents blind-folded, lefereed by a third person. This gante ig played every Thursday by some members of ithe club, and shortly a tournament of this particular game will be arranged
The club has been newly deco. ated and it is really a pleasui-e for any chess player to spend an evening !in the clean, bright room which is well ventilated.

On Saturday September 14, Mrs. Helen Sisson, a pioneeir resident of Vancouver, passed aiway at the age of 70 years Mrs. Sisson was the widow of Mr. H. Sisson who predeceased her five years ago.
Mrs. Sisson was bom in Warsaw, Poland and came to Vancouver 40 years ago when the community was young and became well-known and well-loved among her
many fxiends. She was a member of the Ladies B'nai B'rith Organization.
She leaves to movim her passing four daughters, Mrs. Rose Edgar of Seattle, Mrs. Paul Kantor Mrs. Rachel Levi, and Miss Esther Sisson, all of Vancouver; and two sons, Mr. Sam Sisson, and Mr. Abraham Sisson. There are three grandchildren, Ronald Levi, of Vancouver and Racqual and Howard Sisson of Los Angeles.
Services were held on Simday, September 15, in the Schar a Tzedeck Chapel at which Rabbi E. M. Levy officiated assisted by Mr. Garbsr. Mrs. Tillie Platinsky and Mrs. Sophie Shore performed the B'nai B'rith Service. Internment took place at the Schar a Tzedeck Cemetary, Marine Drive.
Th topic is one of very general interest, and tliei-e is no doubt that it will be presented in a most able an entertaining way, and it is hoped that there will be al large and represenitiuive audience.
