Dr. D. Lander, of Turner Valley, Alberta, was a recent visitor in the city, guest at the Vancouver Hotel.
The many friends and relatives of Mr. Max Rothstein will be pleased to learn that he is now recovering after his recent operation, and wishes to thank them for their kindness during his stay in the hospital.

Polish Students Enroute To U.S. Entertained Here
Vancouver was host to a group of Polish Rabbinical students last week, when they arrived from Shanghai, enroute to Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit, where they will attend Rabbinical colleges.
The Jewish Immigrant Aid Society sent ' two workers, Mr. M. Vinik and Mr. S. Tenenbaum to Port Albemi to meet the young men when they landed, and escorted them to Vancouver. Whjle in Vancouver a banquet was held in their honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. Tenenbaum. Rabbi Charles Ginsberg, Rabbi David Kogan and IMtr. Charles Walfish, cha'rman" of the Canadian Jewish Congress B.C. Bremch were among these present.

Legion Elects New Officers
At a well attended meeting of Branch 178 of the Canadian Legion aiuiual elections took place, and the following were elected fuito office for the coming year.

The next regular meeting of the Junior B'nai B'rith will be held at the Community Centre on Sunday, November 24, at 7:45 p.m. sharp. Please try to be on time, so that w© can get the business of the meeting dispensed with, as we have invited a. speaker to give us a talk.
Plans for the Tolo are really going ahead at full speed. Tickets (have been printed and members will receive as many as they can sell at the next meeting. Because of unforseen circumstances, the executive has had the tickets printed to seU at §2 a couple. This will be explained at the meeting on Sim-day.
Remember to turn out at the next meeting, Sunday, November 24th.
Sub-Senior Council Of Jewish Women
Lil Poplack, our hostess, for our next general" meeting, to be hela at her home, 3708 West 36th Ave., on Monday November 25the at I p.m., informed Zelda Kalensky; President of the Sub-Serior C:un. cil of Jewish Women, that she u expecting a very nice turnout ana does hope that every one will be able to be there. As this is a very important meeting, every effort should be made to attend. Nominations for the hew executive will take place, and plans formulated for the reception of Mrs. iLourie Canadian President of the 'Council of Jewish Women, who "will arrive from Montreal sometime next- week. A very nice program is also being arranged, so that we can look forward to an interesting and pleasant evening.
On Thursday, November 28th, there will be a joint luncheon with the Senior Coimcil, at the Hotel Vancouver, for Mrs. Lourie. On Saturday, November 30th, a luncheon by the Sub-Seniors will also take place at the Hotel Vancouver. Arrangements, however, for these two affairs, will be completed at the general meeting on Monday^ at the home of Lil Poplack. So, please, again, Monday November 25th at 8 p.m., Coimcil night for the Sub-Seniors.

Active Club News
The Canadian Hebrew Active Club will convene the next general diimer-meeting o nTuesday, Novr ember 26th, The program committee is working on an unusual feature for this date but the uncompleted negotiations make it inappropriate to publish the details as this goes to press. The members are urged to make a note of this fact and it is lurgently requested that an effort be made by them to attend the dinner itself.
The ticket sale for "Little BeUe" now being in full swing, the veil of secresy is being moved slightly aside to permit a glimpse at what is being offered. To call the night of "Little Belle" another variety night would be a gross understatement. This night of fun will en-'oompass much more than just a stage show. The scheme of things will bring everyone including the audience into participation in the evening's merriment. Food and drink will be served throughout the night as the antics come off.
"Little Belle" should prove to be an imusual hit with the menfolk. Paul Kligman is the directing genius behind her presentation. The general arrangements are in the hands of Dave Harris and his Entertainment Committee. The scope of the affair is such that the larger facilities of the Alma Academy have been engaged. The commimity at large is invited to come and join the fun on Tuesday, December 3rd. "Come and watch Little Belle peal, you are invivted to see what is coming off."

H. B. Kahn Thanks Chest Drive Workers
Mr. H. B. Kahn, Chairman of the district No. B3 of the L C. Division of the Community Chest of greater Vancouver Campaign; • announced that this was the only division that reached and went over its quota in the recent campaign. Talmud Torah PTA To Hear Gelf arb
A very special program has been arranged for our next joint P.T.A. meeting, Monday, December 2nd. "Why a Jewish Education" is the topic chosen by Mr. J. Gelf arb. Principal of the Talmud Torah. It will prove interesting and educational. Mr. Gelf arb, as well as the other teachers will take part in a question and answer period to follow. Mooter Farein
The Mooter Farein will hold > get-to-gether on Saturday, November 23rd in the Peretz School 1173 West Broadway. This will be in the form of a Musical and Dramatic evening, which will be followed by dancing.
A good time is assured for all, so come members and bring your friends.
A door prize will be given away to some lucky person.
Opens Tuesday Nov. 26th
A last reminder to one and all that Tuesday evening Nov. 26th is the opening of all the Hadassah Bazaar. The entire Community Centre has been taken over for the (occasion and the entertainment will be so varied and interesting that there will be something every minute you spend with us.
The booths will be loaded to capacity with clothing, foods, children's goods and toys. The slot machines, bmgo games and cards will keep one continuously interested. Wednesday the 27th will open with a lunchion convened by our many good hostesses in the Ljllian Freiman Chapter, where the tired busines.sman can also enjoy a good wholesome lunch.
After the luncheon the children's fashion show and tea vdll take place, and all the while our salesladies will be in the booths where all the wonderful articles will be on sale. The evening will again feature Bingo, games, cards and refreshm.2nts and last but not ^ least the drawing of the Tombolos will also take place at the end of all activities. So don't forget Ladies and Gentlemen, your date with Hadassah oh Tuesday, November 26 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday November 27 all day and evening at the Commmjity Centre.
Menorah To Celebrate Second Birthday
A meeting of the Menorah Chap" ter of Hadassah was held Monday, November Mth at the home ol Pearl Lees.
A final report was given by thb Bazaar chairman. Our trousseau booth is really something to look for.
Tentative plans were made for our annual open social which will be.held January 11th, at the Com-munity Centre.
Our second birtliday party will be held Monday evening, December 9ih, at the home of Ruth Dorf-man. The next social will be held Monday, November 25th, at the home of Yetta Ludwig, 127 Wesi 21st.

Committees are busy arranging last minute details of the Henrietta Szold Children's Fashion Show. The children will. model the garments made by the members of the Henrietta Szold Chapter. Buffalo Students Demonstrate Against Speaker
BUFFALO, (WNS)- Offended by a school lecturer's use of the word ganster in cescrlbing Palestine Jewry, 1,400 students of thi LaFayette High School staged a protest demonstration here this week.
The lecturer, George E. Garakec of Missoula, Mont., is listed by the School Assembly Service at Rochester as a "journalist, news an< alyst and foreign correspondent.*
Robert T. Bapst, superintendent of schools, termed the incident "regretable" and ordered all principles to secure more information about speakers in the future.
1000 Cypress Jews To Be Admitted
LONDON, (WNS) — Approximately 1,000 uncertified Jewish immigrants now detained at Cyprus will receive permission to enter Palestine between November 15 and January 14, it was announced by the Colonial Office this week. A Colonial Office spokesman said there were now between 5.000 and 6,000 illegal immigrants in Cyprus camps. During the same period 1,950 certificates will be issued to Jews in German DP camps, to immigrants serving in the British forces and to relatives of Palestinians' who have been promised entry facilities.
