ACTOR TOURS D.P. CAMPS
Maurice Schwartz, fovmder of the Yiddish Art Theatre and noted Yiddish actor and producer, will undertake a tour of the Jewish displaced persons' cainps in the American zone of Germany under the auspicies of the Joint Distr-bution Committee, major American Agency aiding distressed Jews abroad, it ■yras announced today.
Mr. Schwartz will present a series of monologues and dramatic sketches to Jewish DP's in the camps as part of'the J.D.C.'s extensive recreational and cultural program in behalf of Jewish DP's.
Mr. Schwartz, who ^arlier this year received the Louis D. Brandeis award for "distinction in the dramatic art and advancing Jewish culture and ideas", has been described as the most ini-portant creative personality in the history of the Jewish theatre. Among his most famous produc-v-tions /^ave been "Yoshe Kalb," . "the Brothers. Ashkenzi" and "The Family Carnovsky". Mr. Schwartz has also enriched the repertoire of the Jewish theatre by producing works of classical and modern dramatics including Shakespeare, Moliere, Wilde, Shaw, Feucht-wanger and others.,He discovered and gave initial guidance to a number of actors, one of whom was Muni Weisenfreud, who subsequently became famous at Paul Muni.

President Urges Solution Of Crisis
' TORONTO, Canada: — Describing the plight of • hundreds of thousands of Displaced Persons as a" blot upon our civilization, Frank Goldman, Lowell, Mass., president of B'nai B'rith, urged emergency legislation in the United States and other nations for admittance and rehabilitation of the victims of Nazi terrorism.
Goldman made his plea as featured speaker during the convention banquet here. May 31, of B'nai B'rith District 1.
More than 1,000 delegates from the New England States, New York State and Eastern Canada heard the B'nai B'rith leader call upon the United States and Canada to offer a haven of refuge to the DP's.
"We in B'nai B'rith, in .company with every humanitarian in the" world, will not rest until the himdreds of thousands of Displaced Persons of every faith-Catholics, Protestants and Jews, are resettled in other lands where ' they want to go—in other lands where they be rehabilitated and where they may enjoy the freedoms and liberities and the natural- rights of human beings," he said.

Amidst the lovely setting under a canopy banked with white gladiolus, peonies and carnations, and flanked by tall baskets of the same flowers, Sophie Liyim, twin daughter o£ Mrs. L. Rothstein and the late Mr. L. Rothstein, of this City, was imited in marriage to Julian Berenstain, only son of Mrs. S. Berenstain, of Bellingham, Wash. The impressive wedding cere-
mony, which took place at the Jewish Community Centre on Sunday, June 15th, was performed by Rabbi Ch. Ginsberg, assisted by the bride's uncle, Mr. M. Checov.
Preceded by a flower girl and Matron of Honor, the bride made a charming picture in her w'hite crepe afternoon dress, featuring a square-cut neckline, lily point sleeves and a harem drape. Her ■ embroidered chapel veil of French illusion net cascaded from a coronet of white gladiolus and stephan-otis, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of gardenias, white gladiolus and stephanotis. As Matron of Honor" for her twin sister, Mrs. Jack Kahn chose a dress of pale yellow, featuring a bustle back which cascaded to the hem. Her pictm-e hat of yellow crochet straw was ■ trimmed with fresh daisies and she carried a sheaf of daisies.
Little Judy Freeman, cousin of the bride, as flower girl, wore a blue organdy dress and carried a nosegay bouquet of piijik carnations and white sweetpeas.
For her daughters wedding, Mrs. Rothstein chose a beige crepe dress and wore a charming hat of mauve and fuschia flowers. Mrs. Berenstain, mother of the groom, wore a navy dress with matching hat. Both mothers' corsages were of orchids.
Maury Rothstein, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were Aser and Sam Rothstein, brothers of the bride, Aser Rothstein, cousin of the bride,' and Jack Kahn, brother-in-law of the bride.
The bridal music was provided by Miss Rita Rose, pianist.

Large Attendance At Conerstone Ceremony
Over five himdred members of the community turned out on Sunday, Jime 22nd, at 11:00 A.M. ;to w^itness a most impressive ceremony of the laying of the cornerstone for the new Schara Tzedeck Synagogue at Oak and Nineteenth Avenue.
The ceremony began outside the building with Mr. J. B. Jaffe, a Past President of the Congregation, presiding. On the specially built platform were the following guests: Rabbi- Ch. B. ^msberg. Rev, W. Shuster, Rabbi Nachimi Burstin of Montreal, Rabbi Solomon P. Wohlgelemter of Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Klein and Mr. Harry Toban, President of the Congregation. After benedictions and remarks by Rev. W. Shuster and Rabbi Burstin, Mr, L J. Klein unveiled the cornerstone inscribed in memory to the latter's parents.
The gathering then adjourned to the interior of the building for the balance of the programme.
Mr. A. Kolberg brought greetings from the Jewish Veterains, Faurview Branch No. 178 Canadian Legion, BJ).S.L., and short addresses were given by Mr. Harry Toban, Rabbi Ch. B, Ginsberg, Robbi Burstin and Mr. Jack Diamond, Chairman of the BuUd-ing Committee. The visiting guest speaker. Rabbi Solomon P. Junior Hadassah CicslRg Dinner A Success
On Thmrsday, June 19th, Junior Hadassah closed its activities for the season with its annual Dohor Dinner for Youth Aliyah. Socially and financially this affair was a . success, set as it was in the pleasant surroundings bf the Stanley Park Pavilion. In her report of the year's activities, the retiring president, Bella Weiss mentioned the outstanding money raising affairs .which helped to raise ap-proyjlmately $500,000 for the season. She also introduced the new president, Anna Leith, and the various members of next year's executive.
Guest speaker was Mr. Pat Slattery, public relations worker for the Vancouver Sim, whose subject was "'Public Relations in ' War and Peacetime".
An enjoyable musical program followed, consisting of songs by-Mr, Dave Slavin, accompanied by Miss Muriel Gerber-and a trio of two violins and piano, consisting of Bella and Rose Weiss and Mrs. Dorothy Gelfond. Thanks are due to all members of the committee in charge of arranging this affair, to Mara Slavin, Anna Leith, Rose Weiss, Nona Stark, Betty Koven, Esther Bellas, Ruby Silver, Bertha Shacter and Shannon Shatsky.

O.R.T. HEAD dFF TO PARIS
David Rosenstein, Chairman of Greater Ney York, American ORT Federation, is leaving today for Paris as head of an ORT delegation to the forthconiing conference of the Central Board of the World ORT Union scheduled for July 6th and 7th.
The conference of the Central Board, hich is composed of members representing ORT plans centers throughout the world, will discuss plans for the implementation of the imified and expanded vocational training program in Europe, especially in the DP camps.

He strongly urged the Vancouver Community to complete this Synagogue as a memorial to the Jewish martyrs and as a well-spring for the upbuilding of traditional and Orthodox Ju-dausm in Canada and America.
The audience who witnessed this milestone event in the Jewish Community life in Vancouver were greatly impressed with the large Synagogue that is being erected. After the ceremony refres ments were then served by the Schara Tzedeck Ladies' Auxiliary.
Goldberg & Levy Tell Of Trip To Palestine
Arthur Goldberg and Bert Levy, two intrepid young adventurers highlighted the last meetmg of the Wingate Zionist club at the commimity centre on Thursday, June 19th. Members and their friends filled the hall to capacity to hear these two local young men who brought a message direct from Palestine.
They took then- audience on a cooks tom- from "Vancouver three quarters aroimd the' world, and in a most interesting and personal manner told of theu: meeting with Jews in Egypt, in Palestine, and in various parts of Europe. Especially were they impressed with the life of the Jews in Palestine, as are all who see our people in their own homeland. There they found friendliness and a sincere welcome wherever they went — Jerusalem, Haifa, Tel Aviv, the settlements from "Dan to Ber Sheba". A question period followed. The Wingate Zionist Club would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Art Goldberg and Bert Levy for their contribution in maljing this evening interesting and informative.
Our thanks to Joe Jampole, and Myer Goldberg who arranged and provided refreshments at the end of the meeting.
The Wingate club will continue to meet throughout the summer months, and the executive is busy working our interesting programs which will all be of the same high caliber as they have been to date.
The next meeting will be a dinner meeting to be held on Monday, July 14th. Further information regarding this meeting^ will be announced in the bulletin. Leslie Raphael has promised to line up a good speaker for the evening.

B.B. Ladies Auxiliary No, 77
A most enjoyable and interest-in meeting was the closing session of this Auxiliary held Tuesday evening June 17th at the Centre. In the absence of the President, Mrs. Sophie Miller who has been attending the recent B'nai B'rith Grand Lodge Convention at Fresno, California, Mrs. Mollie Glot-man held the CSiair.
A short busmess meeting was followed by a reading "Old Man Minick" by Edna Ferber which was greatly appreciated by all present.
