Bercuson Speoks Af Luncheon
An dithusiastic audience, who braved the transit jstnke and bad weather to hear'Leonard Bercuson wdl-known educator, had their expeotations fulfilled. Keverang the usual procedure, Mr. Bercuson asked for questions from the floor, this was to be strictly educational; he said, and we were to learn the answers to all uncertainties pertaining to Palestine. The questions asked were of excellent calibre; these the speaker fluently wove into a pattern whldi formed his speedi. Taking in all aspect^ the rdigious, historicals, and political, the lecture carried the audience from Bibical times until to-'day. Climaxing his speedi, Mx. Bercuson presented the book "Promised Land," recommiending this as an excellent book for reference as well as enlightening reading.

The Life Underwriters Assoda--tion of Canada reports that Sam Wasserman of the New York Life Insurance Company was one of the four successful candidates from the Province of British Coliunbia, who has been awarded the right to use the title and designation '•Chartered Life Underwriter of Canada" after completion of his iinal exantiinatioris in May of tliis year.

Bearing the coloturs with the Mogen Dovid, representatives of the Canadian Legion Fairview Brandi 178, the all-Jewish group of veterans, marched in the Remembrance Day Parade on November nth and partidpated in ceremonies at the Cenotaph in Victory Square, where Conurade Mitchell Snider laid the wreath of; the branch. The colour party consisted of Bob Rozen, Arthur Goldberg and Albert Chamaw.

Peretz School
Due to the improved transportation facilities of the Vancouver Peretz School, space has been created for a limited ntunber.of diil-dren in the kindergarten. All interested .parents are asked to contact the school officer at CEklar 6818.
The plans for the Listallation Banquet of all three executives of the Peretz Sdiool are now being completed. A varied program is being prepared. The date will shortly be announced.

Last Simday Leonard Bercti^son. Director of Canadian Zionist Organization lead an informal dis-cuaon at a special meeting which was informative to ail. This Sunday there is the regular meeting, and although we haven't a guest speaker, Harold Lenett, educational chairman, has drawn up a full, novel program. Ail over the age of sixteen are cordially invited to attend. That's tomorrow, Sunday, November 16 at 8 p.m.

When the Vancouver Little Theatre Association presents its opening production rf the 1947-48 season, at the York Theatre, November 17th to 21st indudve, Vancouver qudiences wil see the hilarious Hart and Kaufman comedy "George Washington Sl^t Here".
AJ&ed A. Evans, vice-president of the asociation will play the rctU of "Uncle Stanley".
Mr. Mack Stark, who is also well known for his theatrical portrayals, will play the roll of "Newton Puller."
The play tells of the city man, who bought sight unseen, a home in tlie country, and upon arrival at his new home, found to his dismay, a cow in the dinning room, a rusty plow in the sitting room and no water. The only quaMca-. tion of the abode was the fact that supposedly George Washington had slept there.

Joint Sadie Hawkins Dance
On Saturday, November'15, the B.B.G.'s, 229 and Tamar are holding theur Sadie Hawkin's Day Dance. This is a co-ed affair so you girls now have the chance to ask your latest date-bait The admls-fflon will depend upon your size. 1£ this statement puzzles you just come and youll find but what it means! Plans for our Tolo are well im-der way. A definite date has been set for December 27. It will be held at the Georgia Hotel and dress will be informal.
Our next general meeting will be November 23. A cultural programme has been planned for the evening. Let's make this meeting a record attendance.
Youth Aliyoh
The Youth Aliyah Chapter held a meeting at Sophie. Dradie's, November 6. Dr. , Blade, guest speaker, had a large and attentive turnout.
Volunteers for salesladies at the Rummage sale will be called on as soon as the strike is over.
Jennie Kagnoff wishes to remind all girls who still have raffle tickets or stubs to tium them in to her.
Owing to the Hadassah Bazaar and the strike there will be no luncheon November 26.
Keep December 10, evening open for oiur annual Birthday parly, something different.
Sub Senior Council
The Sub-Senior Council held a membersliip Tea at the home of Mrs. Freda Stoffman on Simday, November 9th. Mrs. Garbis, the visiting Western Regional Representative of New York Spoke to the guests aind members and told about the scope and piupose of Coimcil work.
The regular monthly meeting will be held, at the Community Centre in the Loimge room on Monday, November 17th. The program will be a showing of the fiuhn "Toscannini".
Thecook book will soon be ready for printing.
Come to the meeting on Monday and "Remember Laren" bring something for a child.

A large turnout greeted the reg-ular monthly meeting of the Win-gate Zionist Club held in the Jewish Community Centre on Thxus-day, November 13th, at 8:30 p.m. Dr. S. Margolese, President of the Club, was in the Chair.
Guest artist for the occasion was the popular CBC singer, Ed Mc-Curdy. Mr. McCurdy sang a hiim-her of American Polk Melodies, ranging from humorous rustic pieced to plaintive Negro spirittials.
The next item was a novel feature, a re-broadcast transcript of a programme originally heard in Toronto. It presented brief messages by Sanaud- Zacks, David Bronstein and Edward Gdlber, K.C., prominent ocicials of the Zionist . Organization -of Canada. Lome Greene acted as narrator and introduced, a beautiful rendition of Kcl Nidre as simg by Jan Peerce. This transcription' was the first of a series to be presented each month at meetings of the Wingate Zionist Club.
Harold Rome introduced the gu^ speaker of the evening, Leonard Bercuson, Western Director of the Zionist 6rganization of Canada.
Mr. Bercuson volunteered to speak on the personality in the news selected by his audience; the popular choice proved to be Heniy Wallace, with Paul Robeson a dose second. He then requested questions from the audience on all phases of Zionism, and developed a speedi incorporating the answers to these questions. Dr. J. V. White thanked the speaker.

Conadian Legion Fainfiew Branch 178
The next general meeting of the Fairview Branch 178 will be hdd Thursday 8:15 p.m. November 27th-at Community Centre.
Business will be short, conasting of Treasurer's, Rehabilitation Chairman's cad President's Report for the term now ending. E'inal nominations and dections of officers for the new '48 term will take place.
