A.Z.A. 646 FLASHES
A spirited Totem basketball team went down to a 29-26 defeat last Monday night at memorial gym before a huge crowd—119 supplied the opposition,
A.Z,A. 119 won the game in the first quarter when they hit the basket three times and sunk one foul shot to pile up an early 7-0 lead. Totems splurged back with six points but never could quite catch up to the 119 quintet.
This was a crucial game for 119. They needed that win to stay in the running for the British Columbia A.Z.A. championship. The series now stands at two games each, which means a iCifth and deciding^ game is necessary.
Hi-lights—^Two double fouls within a minute called on Meyers and Swartz. The boys love each other. J. Angel sunk a nice long shot in the first quarter. It took too much to do, and lie never scored again that night. Bunny Lotzkar had personal business to attend to last night!!! Totem Hornets high scorer was Phil Swartz with eleven points. Marv Wosk got nine for 119.
Totems—Swarz 11, Kurtz 5, Rozen 8, Barad, Goldsmith 2, Golden Flader, Lotzkar—26 points.
119—Nemetz 2, Meyers 6,

Youth Aliyah Campaign Opens On January 15th
Our Youth Aliyah campaign opened on January 15th. Four months later- the Gates to the Jewish State will be wide open and immigration will start on a scale never reached before. Of the 180,000 Jewish children still in Europe, Youth Aliyah has to bring 24,000 to Palestine in 1948. Most of them are orphans, all of them are completely dependent on the help the Jews of the prosperous countries of the Western World will lend them. We are facing a task of historic proportions. With our help, we are not only saving the individual child, but with every child brought to Free Ysroel we are also assuring the survival of our people. Only by bringing youth to Palestine can the future of the Jewish State be assured. Let us never forget that those children might be our children. They are our responsibility, their future depends on us. We can help them from darkness and despair to new life for them and for Kol Yisroel.
