Have you ever experienced the fun of helping to write, to act and produce an original playlet? And you can do it too, without any previous experience! This is only one-of the exciting projects being planned by the UJPO in their newly founded School for Drama. Registration will commence next Week for a training course that proposes to cover all aspects of theatre—froni creative writing, the art of make-up to the study of direction and production. The first lecture will be given by Miss Dorothy Somerset, well-known head of the Drama Division of the UBC Eb^tension Department, on Tuesday evening, January 25, at the Peretz Institute at 8 p.m. Complete details of the course will be given in next week's column, including a list of instructors, who will be qualified people divawn from all branches of art in the community. Requirements: a genuine interest in drama and the desire to learn more about the kind of teamwork that makes for truly successful theatre!
If you should have a hobby: painting, carpentering, electrical work, etc., you v/Hl find the theatre an exciting place to further these interests ... just add an interest in drama to your hobby and presto! the School for Drama is for you!
* * * * Without any fanfare and little previous experience, a group of busy people have been working quietly on the design of the set for the coming production "Awake & Sing", plamiing the final carpentermg job, lighting and soimd effects, as the last month for rehearsal looms. By PAT SABBLUT 1949 B.B.G. Tolo—To be held at the Schara Tzedeck January 29. Better get your tickets early £rom Madge HoUenburg, and also your dates from Doris
Becker.
Although the dance is formal . . . please don't let that stop you, many of you may not have formals. This is the best time to get one.,There are clearance sales all over town with beautiful gowns which yoiur allowance should be able to afford. Even if it does make yoiir father break down crying when you ask for six months' advance.
TOLO is a dance that "229" has put on for many years. This year "Tamar" has been invited to join in the affair. At the dance the girls vote for their "B.B. Beau." One out of three candidates is chosen and for the following year he is the Beau of all B.B.G.'s.
Last year the honor was given to Gordie Katznelson, who did a fine job. The girls made a good choice, and we hope that this year their choice will be just as good.

HILLEL HAPPENINGS
By B. H. CHETKOW
Hillel Foundation has lost iib time in getting back into activity. In the first week there ha^ been a Councilmeeting and an IZFA meeting.
A permanent drama group is''' in the process of formation. This group intends to have a few presentations on hand for immediate production at any time. At present it is preparing a play for the coming Open House at the University. Other drama work and discussions are planned, and all Hillel members interested are asked to contact Dick Newman or Phyllis Toban.
There are three short items of interest around the House. First is the welcome news that the House is now open two more hours each day. The hours are from 10:^0 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Secondly, .you will be interested to know that Hillel has acquired five Jewish-Hebrew records lately. These, plus some classical and the usual popular records, are available in the library. Just ask Mrs. Gartner for them. And while you are in that Hillel library.
