CAW IT BE that Jewish husbands in Vancouver treat their wives so brutally as to leave them absolutely penniless when they go to work . ill the morning? That's AVhat we. are led to believe (after stretching x>ur imagination) a n d after hearing the report brought back by VSxsi. Ua^ Jajcobs, who went put to collect subscriptions for the Bulletin on Tuesday morning of this week. She called at 20 homes in the vicinity of the Centre and was told in every case either: "See my husban4," or "I have no money," or "What, do I have to pay that now?'V . . To those who

were really broke, and there probably wer some, .our humble apologies,; But; frankly we don't believe that 20 iomes in Vancouver were minus the price of the Bulletin subscription ($3.00) all at one time. ... Of course, it Isnt always that vtray, . % . We understand that most homes co-operate very well when the Bulletin collector calls pn them on Sunday. . , . But it's impossible to get'arouzid to see everybody on Sunday; .. L I lot only is it bad from a strictly business point of view, when call-backs have 'to be made. ... But when si-new colliect-or is sent put for the firstr time and comes back empty; handed: af-. ter walking about 20j ;bl(jcks, it certainljr doesn't encourage her;.to try again. . . . Let's aJl think twice before saying some variety of 'fNo" next time Vtie BuUetin colliector calls. ■ • ■ ' "

WE HEAR THAT Congregation Schara Tzedeck" has a very hardworking president in the person of Xiouis Toban^>-who, <we' are told, leaves nothing undone in the work of the synagogrue that he can:! possibly get done himself.-1.
CONFLICTING AFFAIRS, taking place on the same night are still a big problem in this community. The Endorsation Bureau of the Conununity: Council Is st^ll functioning, but it seems that some groups ; are blithely continuing on their merry-own. way • without getting date clearance first. . . ; In order to help further in avoiding date conflicts, the ^United 'Zionist Council Is asking all Zionist groups
Square Dan ce Lessons at Centre Besinnins April 6
:«:Thev; barn dance put on .by the Council-of-Jewish .Women Evening. Group proved .two things. 1. Square dzmciiig' Is-loads of fun. 2. A lot of-: people .rstill don't. knew .how to square i dance. To remedy this situation- the Jewish Community .Center offers a short course in square dancing to couples. There will be 3 Thursday evening sessions beginning April 6. Registration will be by couples only and the fee.-for the course is one dollar per-couple. Since only a limited number can be accomodated those interested are advised to call CE. 1168 and have their names entered., Lou Zimmerman, who will instruct, claims that square dancing is the simplest form of dancing to learn and that 3 sessions are enough to remove anyone permanently from the wallflower category. , .
