subscription concerts are repeated for Israel workers with exactly the same conductors, soloists and programs but at ireatly reduced prices.
This year, due to the unprecedented demand, for subscription tickets a possible world record is being set with the repetition of each program ten times, including seven times in Tel Aviv alone. This is being done despite the "split season" caused by the three-month American tour, now about to begin.
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra subscribers" list has risen to 12,000 out of a total population in tbe country of slightly more than ia million.
■ One of the most thrilling of the Forces concerts given by the orchestra during the war was that at Beersheba the day after it was captured. Over 1,000 service men and women who had taken part in the Negev campaign heard the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with Leonard Bernstein as conductor and soloist. Another most memorable concert was given in June 1950 at the settlement of Ain Harod. Over 3,000 farmers and workers turned out that day to hear the orchestra
