Congriils to Efect Delegdtos to Plenary Session on Thursday
A meeting of the delegate Iwdy oKlJanadian Jewish Congress Pacific Region has been called for iiejct Thursday night at the Gommimity Centre. TRhis meeting will deal with.the all-important question of electing delegates from th^s region to the Plenary session of Congress taking place in Montreal, October 27 to 29. The Pacific Region is entitled to-^nd a delegation of 11 with Vancouver entitled to eight delegates and other B.C. centres to three.
The executive of the Pacific t Region of Congress met this
week and considered the decision of the national executive of Congress on the eligibility of delegates to the Plenary session. Impleinentation of this dedsion was left for the meeting of the; delegate body when there will be a full discussion of the issue involved, v;^

West Germany Promises Restitution to Jews
BONN-^(JTA)—-The West German Republic /last week offered to negotiate a settlement of Jew ish claims for restitution with representatives of the Jewish pep-pie and the State of Israel and expressed the desire to achieve peace with the Jewish State. The offer Came in a statement beforie the West German Parliament last week by^Dr. Konrad AdenaUer, the Chancelllor, and was overwhelmingly . approved by the chamber.
In his statement, previously agreed on by the Cabinet, Dr. Adenauer expressed the "abhorrence" of the Gferman people for the crimes coniniitted under Nazi reginie but declared tiiat the over^helihing niaijority of the German people had not participa-' ted in them.
The Chancellor called on the German people to' recognize the ^ull equality of the Jews of Germany and to give life to the Convention on Human Rights which Germany had sighed: He announced his-government would introduce legislation providing heavy punishment for anti-Semitic agitation and promised vigorous enforcement. He declared that further restitution legislation wouljd be introduced. and pledged the

Organizations joining in dispatch of the request to the Attorney-General were the American Jewish Committee, American Jewish Congress, Anti-Defamation League of the B'nai B'rith, Jewish Labor Committee, Jewish War Veterans, Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the NCRAC.

An outstanding Hebraist, Dr. Cherrick was bo^n in Dublin, Ireland, and educated in England at the Universities of Manchester an< I London, and the Lonclon School of Economics. Prior to. World War IE he was Rabbi of one of London's leading Synagogues, and then served as an "Army Chaplain. Upon return to civilian life, he became the Efirector of thie Jew-' ish National Fund and the United Jewish Appeal of Great Britain.
Dr. Cherrick has just returned to the North Amesrican, continent frcpi Brazil, .where he presented the story of the Hebrew University, and its role in building Israel with his customary .brilliance and sihcerity. ^

YOUNG ADULTS START TWENTY-IORTY CLUB'
The "Twenty-Forty Club" is^
the name of the n^w organizatiqn which has been established to develop program activities for young adults afthe Jewish Community Centre. Several meetings of the board of the new club have al ready been held and plans com pleted for the opening affair. This will take place at the Centre on Sunday, October 28 and will feature -an outstanding movie followed by a dance.

In a program entitled "Laugh-;er In The Wind," Mr. Caeser and Mr. Bellamy will tell the story of how the people, of Israel are maintaining their sense of humor despite many hardships.
