Tress, President of the American Section of the Agudath, Israel World Organization. -
Benjamin Perencz, Director General of the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization, accom-^ panied the delegation. -
Presenting to Mr. Webb the declaration of the Conference on Jewish Claims Against Germany, the delegation declared:
"On. the night of November 9, 1938, almost thirteen years ago to the day, the Hitler regime launched the first of the great pogroms against the Jews. Within twenty-four hours, the German killed hiindreds of innocent people, ar^ rested tens of thousands miore, put nearly 250 synagogues to the torch and smashed and looted thousands of Jewish-owned stores, homes and factories.

The C!ommunity Council has decided to call an open meeting: to discuss this question in response to the denkand of parents. HOPE FOR WELFARE FUKD
Chairman Bud Lando, in his report, expressed the hope that the establishment of a permanent campaign committee, (now headed by Moe Cohen) would lead to the setting up of a new Welfare Fund in. Vancouver. ;Mr. Lando also handed out a few ribbons to leadi ing A-card campaigners including Sam Rothstein, Joe Satanov, Paul Heller, M. M. "Pop" Waterman, M. Wolochow, Moe Cohen and Harold Freeman. He also pinned one on himself.
Harold Freeman proposed a toast to Israel at the beginning of the program and at the conclusion Moe Cohen thanked the chairman for his work.
The Habonim did some of their Israeli dances and Cantor. Fred Gartner led a community-sing after the reports were over. The speeches ended at about 9:45 and there was dancing for the b^ance of the evening.
ABE ARNOLD Wf NS COMMUNITY AWARD FOR BY WEEKLY
Abe Arnold, editor and i>ublisher of the Jewish Western Bulletin, has been awarded the Red Feather "Oscar" for writing the best feature story on the Community Chest and Council of Greater Vancouver in connection with the recent Red Feather campaign. Hugh Harvey, public relations dkec-tor of the Community Chest, announced this week that Mr. Arnold was declared the winner in the competition among editors of Vancouver suburban weeklies.
The winning article was a feature story \mder the heading: "Red Feather Services Help Make Constructive Oppor-timities for People who Need Them." It Was published in the September 27, Rosh Hashonah issue of the Jewish West-em BulletirL
The Red Feather ^'Oscar" di^laying a. silver plated plaque engraved with the name of the editor, Jiis paper, and "1951 Commtmity Chest Award for Best Article," is to be presented to ]W&r. Arnold. \
Articles in the competition were judged oh the basis of general readership'appeal, clarity, subject matter and accuracy. The judges were a group of leading people in Vancouver newspaper and public relations circles.
