folk-singer and star of the CB,C, will be featured at the UJPb Chanukah Dance this Saturday, December 13 at the Talmud Tor-ah Atiditorium. Mr. McCurdy will present selections from his popular repertoire of folk songs and ballads.
The dance band will be pre sented by Louis Rail, well known JocaL^music^ai«^who j>-Jia& >'^play;ddj with the Commodore and'Palo mar bands as well as with the Vancouver rSymphony. A wide variety of. dance music will be played including shares, horas, squar^ dance numbers and others Admission is $1.25 per person and refreshments will be available. This dance has been arranged under the joint auspices of the. various branches of the UJPO in Vancouver.

Baruch, eminent Jewish scholar will deliver a talk on the ^^'Maccabees/' Mr. Baruch has a scientific approach to Jewish history and learning and it will be interesting to hear a new slant on that heroic period in our history.
A brief analysis of the political situation in Israel at the present time will be given, and community singing will be enjoyed.
AH members of the Labor Zionist movement as well as sympathizers are asked to participate in this interesting' and enjoyable evening. «^

The Beth Israel Sisterhood will be guests of the Congregation at this service. Mrs. Joseph Si-non, Sisterhood president, has announced that the following three Sisterhood members will par-i ticipate in the reading of -the service: Mrs. Harold F^eemaii, Mrs. Alf. Groberman and Mrs. Moe Levine. Refreshments for the Oneg Shabbat following the service v/ill be i>ro\'ided by Sisters-hood members.
A special Chanukah theme will be presented at the Oneg Shabbat by Mrs.'Di Kogen's history class. The second annual gala Chanukah party (sponsored by the Beth Israel; Religious School in (Cooperation with the congregation. Men's Club and Sisterhood) will be held Sunday afternoon^ Dec. 14, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
This will not be a Chanukah show to impress the parents with what their children can 'do. It will be a party for the children's enjoyment of the "holiday. Interesting and amusing games are being planned by Sam Izen and his committee; Mrs." Moe Levine and her' committee will decorate the building; and Mrs. Harry Seidelman : and her committee will serve refreshments.
There will be no Religious School Classes on December 14.
ELECTRIC MENORAH
For the second year a large, bronze, electric Menorah will b6 lit each night on the roof of the Beth Israel Synagogue. This Menorah was donated to the Synagogue last year by the Young
People's League and^ the Religious School pupils.^It is similar to those kindled in Israel, on^^m-agojiues and other public buildings.
RELIGIOUS SCHOOL CLASSES /During the annusd xnid-winter recess in the public^ school (December 19 through January 5) the Beth Israel Religious School classes will meet on Sunday mornings . only. (December 21 and 28, January 4).
