B'NA! B'RITH BOY SCOUT COOPERATION PROGRAM FOR 1953
WASHINGTON, D.C.—A 10-point national B'nai B'rith cooperation program during 1953 with Boy Scouts throughout the United States and. Canada has been announced by Sidney G. Kusworm, of Dayton, Ohio, chairman of the Order's Commission on Americanism and Civic Affairs. This has been a major Americanisim activity of B'nai B'rith since World War IL
During the past 'year B'nai B'rith lodges sponsored some 200 Scout troops, cub packs and explorer units in this country and Canada. Many of the B'nai B'rith troops are planning to send Scout delegations to the national jamboree in California July 17 to 23, when some 50,000 Scouts and Scouters are expected to gather at the famous Irvine ranch near Los Angeles;
"In helping Scouting, B'nai B'rith is building better citizens for tomorrow," Mr. Kusworm pointed out.
B'nai B'rith's 10-point program calls for local lodges to cooperate with Scout areas in their own communities; sponsorship by every lodge of some type of Scout unit for underprivileged or handicapped boys; encouragement by all B'nai B'rith members of their sons to join Scout troops; service by members on Scout councils and troop committees; provision of scholarships for needy Scouts of all faiths to attend Scout summer camps; recruitment of rabbis to serve as chaplains of such camps; contribution of flags
