cation that only a day school offers.
My suggestion is, therefore, that at least one day in the week, on the Sabbath, the students of Vancouver Talmud Torah be exr pected to attend a Junior Congregation which will meet in Congregation Schara Tzedeck. This is not asking too much. Although the Talmud Torah must maintain a neutrality between the two main, synagogues, in order to preserve its communal role, it must be considered that: a) the far greatest majority of the students attending would have ordinarily attended a Talmud Torah affiliated with an Orthodox synagogue; b) the Conservative synagogue does conduct its own school with competes with the interests of the Talmud Torah. In order to compensate Congregation Schara Tzedeck for. its tremendous sacrifice in behalf of a communal' day school, it would be right and commendable for the Talmud Torah to entrust its children to the guidance and supervision of an Orthodox synagogue once a week.
As you see Rabbi Goldenberg, I think you ought to have the same opportunities as your colleague. Rabbi Kogen, in exerting an influence and teaching college students and Jewish children of the elementary school age.
I have written this letter purely in the interest of justice and common sense and perhaps out of a sincere wish to see my successor given an equal opportunity, as anyone else in the community, to contribute to Judaism.
With this letter I feel I must cease all correspondence to the "Jewish Western Bulletin" and to you, Rabbi Goldenberg. I shall be occupied with my own congregation in Maiden, Massachusetts, and will have no time for the interests of another community. But I will look forward to your possible reply and occasionally glancing through the news of a community which will be dear to my heart as long as I live.
Fraternally yours, (signed) LEON M. MOZESON.
