Hdbonim Camp Miricim Opens 5 th Season
On August 2nd, Camp Miriam is opening once more with an expanded four week season to accommodate the expected in^ crease in enrpUment. In addition to providing better accommodation, the four week season will make possible a program more suited to the age level of the campers, .as an age difference will separate the first two weeks from the second two weeks.
Camp Miriam's .program is unique in Western. Canada in that it is patterned after, that of the Israeli kibbutz. The ideals of the Chalutz pioneering movement, its modern Jewish values, i
competent staff carefully select-<J> ed by National Habonim Camping Association, consisting of an experienced director and well-r qualified youth leaders capable of realizing a rich program. Wholesome, nutritious, well-balanced meals are served in the camp dining hall under the expert guidance of a competent cook. Dietiery laws are observed.
The camp is open to all members of Habonim from 10-18 years of age and a limited number of non-members will also be accepted. Camp Miriam is a non-profit camp. Tuition is calculated to cover cost of opera-
its striving for social justice arid | tion. The price per camper as its Labor Zionist convictions—
all find their concrete expressions in the daily ,prOgram of Camp Miriam. Through regular discussion groups 6n a variety of t^ics pertaining to Israel and American life, the campers are given an appreciation for Jewish culture and the spirit of Is-raeL The weekly Oneg Shabbat and the observance of special events of Jewish importance create a lasting attachment to traditional Jewish values. Hebrew becomes p»art of the spoken language through daily use of many words. Traditional folksongs and dances occupy an important place in the life of the campers. Dramatics, handicrafts and sports, a camp newspaper, swimming, campfires and hikes round oiit the proi^ram of Habonim Camp Miriam. The camp is supervised by a
