Yiddish In Polish State Schools
LONDON (WJA) — The Ministry of Education of the Polish Republic, according to a Yiddish language broadcast from Warsaw, has decided to meet the demand of the parents of Jewish pupils in a number of Polish State schools for the teaching of Yiddish. .Yiddish lessons would be given to Jewish pupils in the Polish State schools at Legnica, Wroclaw, Szozecin and three other localities.
Another Yiddish bi'oadcast from Warsaw to the U.S.A. reported on a national conference of Jewish* representatives held in Wroclaw (formerly Breslau) in mid-December to discuss **the dissemination of Jewish literature and the Jewish press." About 350 workers, writers, artists, journalists and others attended. The Wroclaw conference was "followed by similar meetings throughout Poland". At one meeting, a speaker said that while two American Jews, Ck)hn and Shine, were looking through the libraries of tJ.S. institutions in Western Europe for books to burn, Polish Jews were busy publishing literature".
