EDMONTON — A program
calendar listing the regular activities of all Jewish organizations in Edmonton (plus the football schedule and celebrity series) has been published by the Edmonton Jewish Community Council with the assistance of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
As a guide to ^preparing the program calendar two resolutions were approved last June at a meeting of the presidents of Edmonton Jewish organizations. These resolutions provide that (1) in view of the growth of the com-niiunity it^ should be' ^easilile io hold more than one major meeting on any given evening, and (2) that major campaigns, including UJA, Youth Aliyah, His-tadrut, Community Council and Bond^, should eaqh haye. 30 days clear periods. YOUTH PROGRAM
The Edmonton Jewish Council has set up ^ youth commission which conducts a twice weekly program on Wedneseday afternoon and Saturday evening. The Wednesday afternoon program at •the Talmud Torah is for children from eight to 12 and includes arts and crafts, games and other
activities ^conducted by professional personnel. A variety of new activities are being planned for the Saturday evening program for the 13 to 17 age group dt the Community Centre.
Typical of the activities in the Edmonton Jewish community are those planned for October according to the calendar a/ follows:
On Saturday, October 15 the Bar Mitzvah of David Levine takes ^lace at the synagogue, with an at home gathering at the Levine residence the next day. On. Saturday evening there is a B'nai** B'rith car raffle at the Centre at 8 p.m. On Sunday there is, curling again and the Pioneer Women hold their opening tea.
On Monday, October 17, the Youth Committee meets at the Centre in the evening.
On Wednesday,"" October 19, B'noth Israel meets at Beth Israel synagogue at .2:30 p.m., and the Hadassah Council rheets at the Centre the same afternoon.
On Sunday, October 23 the Sabra group of Hadassah is sponsoring a Jewish film showing at the Rialtb Theatre at 8:30 p.m.
A Council of Jewish Women Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25.

Ambassador Abba Eban this week asked "all peace loving states" not to reward "Arab belligerency" with armg*, in an address before the UN Assembly.
"It is indeed hard to comprehend," said Mr. Eban, "how any government whitih -values its moral position can give or sel arms to governments whose primary international objective is to harassj besiege, intimidate, and if possible destroy a neighboring state with which they refuse to establish peace. Mr. Eban re-emphasised Israel's desire for peace with the Arab states and told the Assembly: "There are no problems outstanding between Israel and the Arab states which would for so much as a, few weeks survive a mutual decision to solve them by negotiation. ..."
Mr. Eban denied that Israel ha^ more arms than all the Arab countries together.
Distribute Jewish Books to Students In North Africa
ALGIERS (WJA)—The North African Office of the World Jewish Congress has completed the distribution of Jewish literary works to leading pupils of Jewish schools in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Altogether, about three hundred volumes of Jewish religious or. literary value were dispatched to some fifteen 'Jewish communities for distribution at their Jewish schools, especially Talmud Torah establishments
Talmud Torah Scholarship in Memory of Ahe Rothstein
A scholarship in memory of the late Abe Rothstein has been presented to the Vancouver Talmud Torah by Mrs. Celia Rothstein, it has been'announced by Mrs. A. Kagna, president of the PTA. B'NAI B'RITH CURLING CLUB
got off to an enthusiastic star with 88 t>layers last Sunday. The curling school for novice players proved very successful.

All rinks were selected by player strength. Each skip was required to draw out of a hat for his 3 RD, 2 ND, and Lead Man All players were classified in groups of positions they could play. At the end of the first eight weeks, all rinks will again be reviewed, and any rink proved weaker than others, will be Redrawn with stronger players.

A well attended meeting of the PTA recently heard Abe Arnold, editor of the Jewish Western Bulletin, speaking on current affairs of Jewish interest. Mrs. A. Assaf, accompanied by Mrs. Trunkfieid at the piano, taught the parents of Hebrew songs. Talmud Torah students visited the Beth Israel Succah on Monday, October 3 and after discussing the significance of the festival once again they were served treats, arranged by Mrs. Bess London, holiday chairman, and Mrs. Feld-stein. •
TOURIST INFLUX TO ISRAEL RISES TEL AVIV (ZINS)—During the month of August 7,000 tourists visited Israel. The comparative total for the same month last year was bnly^ 4346. During the first 8 months of 1955 the tourist traffic totalled 37,lfl0 already exceeding the 36,661 mark reached for all of 1954.
