Tze'deck's Adult Education Institute on Monday evening, December 3. ; The lectufe on Monday, December 3 at 9:00 p,m.—"Inside the Jewish Year" — to be given by Rabbi Bernard Goldenberg will also discuss the structure of the Jewish Holiday cycle -^New Year, Passover, etc. A full discussion period follows each one of the lectures.

The very critical Zionist discussion \yill thus climax the successful 1956 Fall term Of the Schira Tziedeck program in Adult Education.
In addition to the lecture series the Schara Tzedeck Adult Institute also offers the followihg classes: one in Talmud at 7:00 p.m. taught ^ in Yiddish by Rabbi Goldenberg . ^(it is not necessary to have been a student of the Talmud in the past in order .to take this class. However, a knowledge of Hebrew is essential). A class in conversational Hebrew, led by Mr.' Joseph Youngson, is given a 8:00 p.m.
The Institute is open to all in the community. Tea and refreshments are served after lectures.. .
The lecture topic for December 10 is "Inside the Jewish Sabbath".
At the Adult im^^ there will also be on display a number of Chanuka gift items from the Schara Tzedeck Ladies''Auxiliary Gift shop and the lighting of Chanuka candles

Montreal—Th& possibility of admitting to Canada Jew i s h refugees from Hungary, has been discussed by Caqadian Jewish Congress with Mr.C. E. S. Smith, lOirector of the Immigration Branch, Department of Citizenship and Immigration.
The number of; Jews among the escapees from Hungary, presently in Vj«sma, is estimated at 1200 to 2000. 'ab''ltr 50 have asked for Canadian inUAl^ation permits and some others expected to apply. JEWISH CONGRESS
Ottawa Canadian Jewish Congress was commended recently for' its assistance to the Department of Labour in helping to prevent unemployment. The Hon. Milton F. Gregg, Minister of Labour, in a letter to Samuel Bronfman, national president of Congress, expressed appreciation for CosgTess assistance in this area. . Mr. Gregg stated in his letter: "Officials of my department and of the Unemployment Insurance Commission have told^me that in practically all the community campaigns the Congress has taken an active part and has been niost helpifuL I wanted you to know that the government
deeply appreciated the co-operation which has been received and looks forward to a continuance of that co-bper-a,tion in the even more intensive activities which are being planned for future winters. I dp not know what facilities may exist within the Agencies comprising your Congress for letting.all concerned know how much theu* past help is appreciated and how much their future help is needed. Anything that you are able to do in that regard will I am sure, have a very beneficial effect in the reduction of unemployment during the coming and future" winters." _

Montreal — TTie National Filin Board is producing a French fihn on the Jewish community of Montreal. Canadian Jewish Congress assisted in arrangements. /
Scense depicting Synagogue services, schools. Sabbath eve in Jewish homes, meeting of Cercle Juif, and ah interview at the Jewish Vocational Service will be included in the film. It. will be ready for distribution by March, 1957.

MRS. 9..PANAR, president Of the Talmud/Torah Parent Teachiers': Club and Mrs. George Rdadburg, convener of the Talmud Torah Chanuka Dance are completing arrangements for a' gala evening at the Talmud Torah on December 1 starting at 9 p.m. . . . Howard Isman and his orchestra will supply the music for the mixer, spot and novelty dances with prizes for the winners. OBITUARY
JEWISH MAYOR IN FLIN FLON
Winnipeg — The city of Flin Flon,
Manitoba, has elected one of its ewish residents, Frank Dembinsky, as its Mayor. His father* Ben Dembinsky, has been Mayor of The Pas or sixteen years. The younger Dembinsky is the latest of a list of ewish Mayors that have been elected in such cities as Toronto, Halifax, Cornwall, and Medicine Hat.'
MRS. BELLA FAINSTEIN, 71,
passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, Novenaber 24. Mrs. Fainstein was born in Odessa and came to this country in 1903. She lived in Winnipeg until 1948, when the family moved to Vancouver.
Mrs. Fainstein is survived by her husband David, a brother, A. Fried-maji, of Xos-Angeles,, one son,. Herbert, and three daujghters, Mrs. Bernice Groberman, Mrs. Frances Fainstein, of this city, and Mrs. Rae Korda, of Los Angeles.
Burial took place in the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery on Sunday, November 25. Officiating was Rabbi B. Goldenberg. Arrangements^ were by Chevra Kadisha.

Chanuka will be observed at Beth Israel with a variety of activities beginning with a special Chanuka progriam presented during the Sabbath Eve Service tonight at 8:15 p.m. Pupils of the Religious School, will participate in the Service and .the Junior Choir will chant the Hanukai songs.

CHANUKA CONCERT
A Chanuka Concert including playlets and dances will be presented to parents and children' of the Beth Israel Religious School on Sunday, December 2, at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Synagogue.
Participating in the Concert will be children of Grades 4, 5, 6, and 8. The USY folk Dancing Group, Beth Israel Junior, i^^how. andJBeth Israel Five Discs Band will also participate.

of the traditional lighting of the Chanukah candles, Chanukah songs, recitations, playlets, and a modern radio version of the Chanukah story. Staff members who have worked with the children in producing the revue are: Miss Loretta Youngson, Raymond Goodman, Issy Wolfe, and, David Youngson.
Following the Assembly, children will receive special Chanukah refreshments.' The newly-organized Mother's Club, headed by Mrs. Meyer Felstein will'serve refreshments.
LIONS' GATE NEWS
LIONS GATE LODGE No. 1716 will hold its next general meeting on Monday, December 3, at 8:30 p.m. at the Community Centre. Elections for the following contested positions on the Executive for the coming term, will take place. Guardian: Dave Jackson, Aid Harris; 3-year Trustee, Lloyd Taylor, Joe Sinclair . . . All chairmen are requested to submit their annual, reports to the President, so please make every effort to attend.
GOLDEN AGE CLUB members whose birthdays came in October and November were remember^ recently at a celebration very much enjoyed by all. Treats were supplied ' by Mr. and Mrs. I. Director who were recent great grandparents. Frai-lachs for dancmg and smging were played by program chairman Mrs. Rose Gordon, and Miss Barbara Taylor recently returned from Israel, gave a very interesting tallc.
