APPEAL AGAINST
(Continued from Page 3) able that Israel should feel compelled as a mqitter of national survival to delay complete withdrawal from Gulf and Gaza.
"We afe confident Canaila will continue to view with sympathy Israel's need fox assurances, and would regard as whpily<, unjust the formulation of sanctions by the asembly in an attempt to compel an Israeli withdrawal. Such a withdrawal, without those related measures you have already so ably defined, might well turn out to be disastrous to Middle' Eastern and world peace.
"Certainly it would be immoral to employ the force of sanctions against Israel while leaving Egypt, which has been in defiance of the United Nations for years, free to reassert the irresponsible belligerency which is the root cause of the present crisis.
"We therefore strongly urge you to play the same historic and metnor-able role again, in opposing and resisting the sanctions resolution as a matter of Canadian voting policy in the assembly, a role that you recently played in attempting to obtain justice for all parties through proper and effective assembly decisions. We are certain such a role has the support of the majority of Canadian leaders and of public opinion and we address these urgent representations to you in the nanie of the entire Jewish community of Canada." - .
