HOME FOR AGED
(Continued from Page 1)> ther or not the constitution of the Home specifically bars women from membership. Messrs. Wosk, Becker -and Lotzkac claimed that women may only join the ladies auxiliary. It was pointed out that in spite of the provision for the ladies auxiliary, the membership clauses of the constitution do not specifically bar women from belonging to the Home for the Aged Society itself. It was finally determined, however, that the Home for the Aged executive is' using its constitutional right to reject any membership application in^ order to maintain a specific ban against women.
The consensus of the meeting was that the constitution of the Home for the Aged needs review and revision. The official.spokesmen of the executive of the Home refused, however, to entertain the suggestion that a constitution revision committee should be set up. There was even a suggestion that immediate new elections should be held by the Home. Mr. Wosk and his associates, however,'refused to accept any proposals for quick changes in the administration of the Home.
Mr. Wosk offered cooperation with the Community Council "on a slow and easy basis." . . . "You can't change everything in one day,'* he said. He added that he was "happy to have been the cause of bringihg the Home for the Aged to the attention of the community." He expressed his dissatisfaction, however, with some of the Criticism recently levelled against him and against the executive of the Home. "You can't whip us with one hand and kiss us with the other," he added.
Mr. Wosk charged that responsible people in the community such as doc-pr?, rabbis and Community Council representatives had not taken sufficient interest in the Home. He claimed to have tried without success to arrange A meeting with Community Council repiesentatives recently over
an emergency problem in the Home. Mr. Saltzman stated, however, that the Community Council had .'received no official representation from the executive of the Home since the new executive of that body took over. Mr. Saltzman referred to the recent Community Council brief on admissions procedure in the Home which had been re-submitted to the new executive but on which there had been no response. v
Mr. Becker stated that it was he who had made an effort a few months, ago to contaict Mr. Zimmerman, the Coftmiuhity Council executive director, and Mrs. AUman, the Family Welfare Bureau worker, to arrange meeting over a specific problem in the Horned This effort'ha^ riot materialized, however, and Mr. Zimmerman said that Ife did not recall the telephone call which Mr. Becker claimed to have made.
It was clear, however, that there had been no response to the CommuU' ity Council's official correspondence directed to the Home and no direct contact had been established prior to the recent public meetings and discussion in the press.
Among others who participated in the discussion at the meeting included Ed Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Checov, Dr. and Mrs. Blumes, Hy Altman, Sam Shine, Abe Arnold, Dave Matlin, Bill, Gelmon, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman, Harold ZIotnik, Morris Wolochow and S. B. Gervin.
At the close of the meeting, a number of new members were enrolled in the I^ome by Dr. Blumes who was recently co-opted to the executive. It was concluded by the meeting that many more people should become members of the Home in order to assure that the views of the conmiunity are properly represented in the administration iof that body.

IT HAPPENED IN SCOTLAND —
Having noticed that hi§ Scottish^ guide went bareheaded in all sorts' of weather, the Dublin sportsman made him a gift of a fur cap, the kind that has heavy ear flaps for extra'warmth.
On his next visit to the Highlands he asked the old Scot how he liked the cap.
"I have not worn it ,since„the accident," wos the gloomy reply.
"What accident?" queried his benefactor.
"Jock MacLeod offered to buy me a drink," sighed the guide, "and I didna hear him." ■ • ♦ * ♦
