paedia Britannica. Dr. and Mrs. Werner Were guests at a luncheon at the Faculty. Club at UBC on Wediiesday, and they left for Vancouver Island shortly afterward. Their brief stay in Vancouver did not make it possible to arrange any other functions 'or them . . . In this' connection we would suggest that local tourist officials, should have a serious talk with Mr. Cook, as the Werners were told hat three days would be enough in Vancouver!
* * * IT IS NOW CONFIRMED that the sun has been shining all summer at Camp Hatikvah and that everyone is having a wonderful time, especially the campers . . . One of the most popular counsellors at camp is the swimming insfiruetor, Dwaine Greer, who is non-Jewish, but is learning a ittle Yiddish and Hebrew. A favorite expression w^th Dwaine is: "Siz shyer tsu zein a Yid, that's, why I'm not." He also joins in the "benchen" after meals . ■. . Besides teaching swimming and conducting other active sports the c^p is producing many avid fishermen. The star fisherman to date is SeSSrey Groberman who recently caiight the biggest trout of the season (the only one) Svhile everyone else was still catching minnows . . . One of ih^ big stars at a **Bohenuan nigjit" at the. camp was the cook, Mre. Leila^ Koks^ who sings like Sopiile Tocker,-writes poetry, dabbles at sculpture and has taken training as a veterinary surgeon . . . The final period at camp opens next Monday.

It yras learned meanwhile fliat die United States had ai^ed Henry R. Labonisse^ head of tiie United Nations Relief and Works Admin-istlation, to study tfie posabilities of refugee resettlement in Iraq and that Mr. Labouisse refused, saying he did not want to create Arab hostility. Mr. Labouisse recently visBted Washington in a futile bid for increased idlocations for LfN-RWA, Ae Eisenhoww Adminis6[a-tion promising only to continue its 80 per cent saiare. ' The Israeli sources said they ex-j pected strong pressure on Israel, dur-1 ing forthcoming General Assembly discussion on the UNWRA budget, to agree to give the Arab refugees free choice to return to Israd or resettle in Arab countries. This is an approach understood to be strongly favored by the United States.
The U.S. is reported here to be-1 lieve that if it Were, nlade clear to j the refugees that a return to Israel nccehtanGe of unconditional'

JACK WASHERMAN had ought'a eat his words about TUTS > . . It's not that his criticism of Tom VIckers and ]^ddy Cairns, in the supporting roles of •*Kiss Me Kate^^^^w^ unjustified ... But we felt he went, a little too far in his CBC "Critics at Large" comments when he implied that the weak performances of these two undermined the whole show:. . We're not saying all this just becauise we want to give Max Power and Ben Kopelow a special accolade for their parts in the recent TUTS production. . . . Betty PhUlips and Ralph Magel-ssen were tops in the lead roles and we enjoyed f%iss Me Kate" as a •whole. We found it much much better than the only previous TUTS show we saw this' season, which was "ITie Student Prince." . . . Generally TUTS lias a very fine troupe of performers but in the past couple of summers we have/observed that they don't really get into their best form until the last production of the season.. . . The last TUTS show for this summerC?), "The Pajama Game*' opened last Monday at Malkin's Bowl and it's a pretty terrific show •. . . We can only hope that the weather sv'on't
