First affaif at new Home held by NOW
A provocative, talk by Dr. H. L. Stein, and an endowment of community-wide interest . were two highlights of a luncheon meeting held by the National Council of Jewish > Women, on October 14, at the new Jewish Home for the Aged.
Dr. Stein, director of Graduate Studies at the College of Educatiori, and Professor of Education, • at the - tJniversity of Bri^h Columbia,. speaking on the topic "Parent-Child Relationships" stressed the influence of the home and family life on a child from his very earliest years..
He emphasized the jmpor-■tahce of good homes in the nation today as having a major influence in controlling the tide ,bf lawlessness, and the increasing incidence of neuroses in the nation today.
Dr. Stein developed this theme of the significance of the fprmatiye years.: in a secure hoine atmosphere with . special regard to the Jewish child,. He pointed out" that the Jewish child's training must differ from that . of a non-Jewish - child's, since a Jew must miaintain a culture within a culture,« and tl^erefore . must .acquire not-- a different.set OjE moral and.ethical values, but an additional set.
