Despite a fairly large tourist publicity program, Havana is still a winter playground . . , without any players. Happy to accommodate the former Cuban holidayers are the nearby Caribbean countries, which are in the throes of a tremendously successful season. Roulette wheel lovers have transferred their "luck" to Puerto Rico, where most of the resort hotels have fashionable casinos. And sun worshippers, in great numbers,' have replaced Cuba's famed Varadera Beach, with the warm white sands of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, in Jamaica.

JAMAICA .... a favorite cruise port, will have twice as many ships docking this year than last. In or out of season, this slow-paced West Indian Island offers its visitors hot days . . . cooler, pleasant tranquil evenings . . . free port shopping , . . fun-filled plunges into the surf . . . and romantic hours dancing on outdoor patios, under the tropic stars.

Ocho Rios-^a later resort development than Montego Bay, Ocho Rios offers many fine hotels, along its cove-lined coast. Jamaica's largest hotel. The Marrakesh, is in this area as is the Arawak . . . both expensive, flambouyant Miami-type hostelries. Maintaining a fine reputation is the Shaw Park, while always popular are the Jamaica Inn and Tower Isle. Nearby is "Golden Head," a cottage-type colony built last year.

Port Antonio—a three-hour drive from Montego Bay or 40-minute flight by charter plane. Least known of Jamaica's tourist areas. Port Antonio is without a doubt, one of the Island's most beautiful sections. There is a limited amount of accommodation here but choice homes can be rented occasionally from members of the international set, who maintain permanent homes in the San San Bay area of Port Antonio. The homes, when available, are completely staffed. For hotel living, Port Antonio offers the ultimate in luxury, "Frenchman's Cove," owned by Canada's Garfield Weston. Two weeks for $2,000.00!

that the only real barriers between the understanding of man and man are really those of language. Highlights of the program were, of course, his renowned Youth, Maturity and Old Age and the HIP interpretation of David and Goliath. The astonishing mobility and sheer genius of the face of Marceau was revealed in depth in h i s concluding presentation of The Mask Maker . . . And who has failed to be delighted by t h e presentation of cards by Mar-ceau's partner, Pierre Verry. Another unusual and great artistic talent, Verry has been a distinguished member of the Com-pagnie de Mime Marcel Marceau since 1951.

^ V ^ Vancouver Hadassah gets na-chus. Louise Adler, national executive director of Hadassah wired our" own Marge Grober-man last week that Quebec City is anxious to have her address them as an expert on Hadassah Bazaars. Also requesting our Western expert's advice are London and Sarnia in Ontario, St. John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Marge has already spread, the good word on how to make successful bazaars in Edmonton and it looks like she'll be busy for some time keeping the bazaar pot boiling for cities across Canada. The fame of our Ann^ial Hadassah Bazaar has spread far and wide.

Marge Adelberg, writer-composer, and the entire company of Holiday Theatre's Hansel and Gretel were thrilled last Saturday when Pierre Verry, Marcel Marceau's on stage assistant (see item above) turned up at their morning presentation of the show at the Fredric Wood theatre on the campus. Monsieur Verry raised two very expressive fingers after the perform-" ance and pronounced the musical play, "Per-fect!" It seems the master himself. Monsieur Marceau was not able to come down and we quote his reason: "Don't be sil-lee , , , I can't get up at that hour!"
