A 1938 graduate of the University of British Columbia, he received his Ph.D. degree at Rochester in 1942 and became full professor of; radiation biology iii 1959 after serving on the university staf^ during: the itii-terv^ning' years as - instructor, assistant and associate professor. Dr. Rothstein is the soft of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rothstein of Vancouver.
Afternoon branch executive installed
History was made last week at the-^^ National Council of Jewish Women's luncheon meeting with the installation of the Executive of the Afternoon Branch. The installation officer was Mrs. V. Drache, national vice-president who pointed out that in the past the Afternoon Branch, being the parent group, served as the executors of the Vancou-y^er Section. Now, with a structural change, a board of directors was formed with a section president and table officers also representatives from each branch.

When the Second World War broke out, he served as liaison officer for the Jewish Agency with tlie British military authorities and was in charge of recruiting and placing Jewish volunteers into the various units then being formed. In 1942, he recruited himself into the army and was given command of one of the Jewish units within the frame work of the British army. He participated in^the North African campaign and served in Egypt, Palestine and Cyprus.
After the war, Captain Ben-Dror ciame back to America on special missions and after the War of Independence, devoted all his efforts, first to the rescue of Jewish survivors of the nazi holocaust and later to the economic build-up of Israel.

Her film-strip on Moetzot Hapoalot's work with Arab women in Israel, "To Win the Peace," was awarded honorable mention by the National council on Jewish Audiovisual materials.
In addition to her photographic talents and concern with the educational potential of audio-visual materials, Lena Hillman has helped to organize and direct numerous Pioneer Women clubs throughout the United States. She has also served the organization in various national capacities and has b6en active in United Jewish Appeal and Histadrut cam-pa igns. Her intimate knowledge of Moetzot Hapoalot and Israel has frequently been utilized in speaking engagements and workshops.
Mrs. Hillman is well acquainted with the Israel scene, having visited the young nation-
al eight^ ^tl^m^:t)mt' year serving in ^v^rfoiiit Women Moetzot Ifapoalot % stitutions. She is a anember of a family of pioneeris and has four brothers living in Israel, tv/o of whom are engaged in social service work with newcomers to the state.
Lena Hillman brings to local Pioneer Women the message which comes from first-hand knowledge of the needs of the great network of humanitarian institutions supported by Pioneer Women's efforts.
The Labor Zionist family, husbands, wives and the entire movement have arranged an affair on Saturday, November 4 at 8:15 p.m. honoring Mrs. Hillman. It will be held at the Jewish Community Centre when Mrs. Hillman will speak and show her slides. R^reshments will be served. There will be no charge for the evening and there will be no appeal for funds.
