Pacific chapter B.B. elects new executive
Vancouver Pacific Chapter B'nai B'rith Women No. 763 has held its elections for the coming term. New executive is as follows: president, Mrs. Wm. Giesbrecht; 1st vice-pres.. Mrs. Daniel Yochlowitz! recording and corresponding secretary, Mrs. Chuck Kemp; financial secretary, Mrs. Gil Gordon; treasurer, Mrs. Leon Hammer; sentinel, Mrs. Abe Glotman; trustees, Mrs. Harry Avery, Mrs. Sid Mintz, Mrs. Joe KOwarsky, Mrs. Rae Doduck and Mrs. Myer Rubin; and counsellor, Mrs. Norman Margolis.
The Installation will be held Monday, May 14, at the Gros-venor hotel. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The 1st vice-president, District No. 4. Mrs. Marry Tauber, will be installing officer, and Mrs. Maurice Lif-chus, 2nd vice-president. District No. 4 will be assistant installing officer.

NEW YORK—Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, Federal Judge Thurgood Marshall and Senator Jacob K. Javits will be among the principal participants at the American Jewish Committee's 55th Annual Meeting, May 3-6, Commodore Hotel, New York City. David Sher. annual meeting chairman, announced th.at Mr. Kennedy will be the principal speaker at the Saturday night dinner (May 5), while Judge Marshall will be awarded AJC's American Liberties Medallion for exceptional advancement of the principles of human liberty. Senator Javits will lake part in a panel discussion on the recent upsurge of anti-Semitic activity in the Soviet Union.

All those interested in furthering knowledge of the Hebrew
language in Vancouver have been invited to attend a unique "first" in the community on Monday evening, May 7, when the First Annual Award Night of the Vancouver Ulpan Institute for adult Hebrew studies will be held.
Certificates and Ayin merit pin awards will be presented to all Ulpan students who have completed their year's course, as well as to members of the Hebrew-speaking Circle, the Chug Ivri. Under the sponsorship of the Keren Hatarbut, elementary, intermediate and advanced Hebrew classes were conducted, ::ommencing last October, and Vv^ere held at the Vancouver Tal-Ttiud Torah. Beth Israel slates Mr. Irwin Hoffman
The Adult Institute of Jewish Studies of Congregation Beth Israel will hold the last in its current series of lectures tonight! during the Oneg Shabbat which' will follow the Sabbatih evening services at Beth Israel synagogue. Guest speaker will be Mr. Irwin Hoffman, conductor of the Vancouver Symphony, and well-known in musical circles throughout North America. Mr. Hoffman will speak on the subject, "Religion in Music."
This lecture will conclude the series of Friday .night talks, which have brought prominent scholars in various fields to the Beth Israel Adult Institute. Dr. David T. Zack is Chairman and will introduce the distinguished guest tonight.
* The Sabbath eve services will begin at 8:15 p.m. with Rabbi Bert A. Woythaler officiating, and Cantor Abraham Deutsch chanting the liturgy, assisted by the Beth Israel choir under the direction of Sol Pelman.
