This Sunday is GIVE DAY' in City
Women's UJA
Shalom! Very soon now the final curtain will come down on Women's U.J.A. campaign work for this year, and the voices of many Jewish wpmeri will cease their fentreaties to look at Israel's problems, chief amongst them the surge of refugees — over 60,000 expected this year. The voices will stop begging you not only to look at the problem, but to see it; not only to see it, but understand it; not only to understend it, but to do something about it-^help Israel meet her refugee problem through your U.J.A. dollars. The stage is now set for the final big "push," "Give Day" or "G Day," as it has come to be known, this coming Sunday, April 29.
The "G Day" format is familiar to hundreds of Jewish women in this city. Lii Poplack is in charge of overall arrangements, together with her committee consisting of Phyllis Coleman, Ida Feldstein, Myrna Koffman and Dora Yorsh. Florence Bookman and Debbie Woolfe will be making breakfast for the "gang." Last year some 60 women turned out for breakfast at the Centre and covered some 600 cards. This year Peggy Silvers, who is in charge of womanpower'for the umpteenth tirne, j;;eports that we can expeei about -the same number of canvassers as l^st year. "If those who- promis^vtp help wilt turn out, we'll be okay; if they don't we'll be in the 50up," says Peggy: Working on G Day is becoming ari annual traditioii with Debbie Silvers, too. Invntations to' The Luncheon, on May 9, should be received by contributors soon. It is the right of any contributor of $15 or more to attend this luncheon—-and if you are in this category and- don't receive an invitation, call the Centre office and advise them. Incidentally, I would like ■ to remind you that this year it will be possible to reserve whole tables for groups of six or eight, or seating at tables for smaller numbers, in advance. If you i want a table, say for six, this: can be arranged by sending a' cheque for $12 to the Centre ($2.00 per plate is the luncheon charge) at 2675 Oak St., together with a" list of the people who want to be at your table. If each person at your table has made a $15 or more pledge- or contribution^ you will receive seating cards for each person at your table.
On your invicaiions you will notice various categories of contributors. When a person is listed as a Life Saver, it means that person has contributed $500 or more ;when a person is listed as a Sponsor it means that per-(Coniinued on Page 9) See U.J.A. HIGHLIGHTS

Money rarely comes in unsoli-' cited! It has been sought after by the very women who are willing to give their time this Sunday morning so that others may be reached. This story is well known and accepted by Peggy Silvers, Womanpower Chairman for "G" Day. Peggy has worked quietly and effectively again this year, and reports that the response to her request for drivers and canvassers has produced approximately 100 women to cover tile 50 odd kits which will have been prepared for them.

The major event of this year's U.J.A. Women's Campaign is the Luncheon, to be held on Wednesday, May 9, in the Ballroom at the Hotel Vancouver.
A special program has been arranged to delight the audience. Weeks of writing, re-writing and rehearsing have gone into the presentation, and the participants, actresses if you will, are eager to please and surprise the guests, so that we are honor bound to say no more.
Lucille Lipman has supervised the proceedings, Marg Ad-elberg has supplied the musical accompaniment, and the cast includes Mesdames: Lydia James, Bess Panar, Fran Cohen, Marilyn Gearber, Rose W^all, Mar-' ilyn Goldstone, Doris Gould> Ilene Bernstein, Marlene Cohen, Claire Weber, Leila Toban, Edie Thompson and Beverly Loomer.
Make a reservation NOW by mailing to the Centre, 2675-Oak St., a list of women sitting at your table, together with a cheque to cover the cost of the lunch ($2.00 each). Tables are set up to seat parties of 6 or 8, but reservations for any number will be handled. Upon receipt of a reservation and a cheque, tickets, stamped with your table number, will be forwarded to you by return mail.

Again, the plea is for promptness, and the consideration of a phone call, if for any reason, someone who has volunteered her services on "G" Day cannot come.
