The overwhelming success of the Luncheon is due in great measure to "Shalom," the Fun Show which Lacille Lipman so ably directed and arranged, together with Mar j Adelberg. To give; eredit wh^e credit is dui^ \ ^yould mean singling "out every member of the c^st—the important thing is that Lucille got the right girl for the right job and the overall effect was terirific.
How did you like Lrucille's rendition of "A Yiddishe Mama?" I must confess that song "gets" nie, not only because it conjures up visions of my own "mama"' for whom such a song could have been written; but because it is like a tribute to a vanishing reality—the Yiddishe Mama as so many of us were privileged to know. Not that there's any thing wrong with Jewish mothers as we are today—but Yiddishe Mamas, we're not.
