From the CPA Charter Flight to Camp Hatikvah last Sunday come a number of anecdotes:— Passengers aboard were surprised to hear announcements made in Yiddish by First Officer Sam Kaplan. It was also remarked that Chief Navigator JLou LeFohn was much more proficient at charting a courpe for an airliner than for his own private boat. . . Mrs. Meyer Goldberg was noted to cut a mean figure on water skis. . . Dr. M. J. Waterman also qualified as a proficient fruit farmer through his cherry-picking activities. . . Although our camps are having a banner year, vacuum camping areas remain in the community. Families, as a unit, our young adults, young marrieds, or young professionals and Golden Agers have nowhere to enjoy a few weeks at camp. : With this in mind, it was refreshing to hear that two of our Golden Age Club married couples decided to do something about it Aided by Bea Greenberg of NCJW, the Community Centre and Mrs. Clark of Camp Fircom, this foursome were able to attend two weeks at this United Church sponsored camp. Their letters are glowing. It's just too bad camping facilities aren't avail-
vention, is expected to be nomi- , nating Max from the floor with the backing of an important faction from the East. The outcome should be interesting.

chaired by the head of the Camp Hatikvah committee. Dr. S. Mar-golese. Members of the area press and a representaiive of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation T.V. were on hand to record this historical event.
Dr. J. J. Secter, president of the Pacific Region, Zionist Organization of Canada, formally dedicated a new cabin erected in the memory of the late Mrs. J. Raphael by Mr. Jack Raphael. Dr. Secter outlined the significant role played by the Raphael family throughout the history of B.C. Zionism and made special reference to the fact that the Raphael children and grandchildren are today playing their full role in all areas of Zionist endeavour. Representing the Raphael family was Mr. Jack Raphael, and Howard Raphael, his grandson.
Accepting the new cabin on behalf of the Zionist Organization of Canada was National Vice-President L. J. LeFohn. "Providing facilities for young children to have a positive Jewish experience is certainly a suitable way to perpetuate the memory of Mrs. Raphael," Mr. LeFohn stated. He went on to point out that Camp Hatikvah has been built solely through local effort and that no U.J.A. funds have been expended for this purpose.
A new Arts and Crafts Centre donated by Vancouver Ha-dassah Wizo was formally dedicated by Mrs. Meyer Goldberg, regional chairman of Hadassah. Mrs. Goldberg pointed out that Hadassah has formally adopted Young Judaea as its youth arm and that support for Camp Hatikvah could be expected on an on-going basis. The new Arts and Crafts Centre was accepted on behalf of the Z.O.C. by Mrs. Myer Wine, national vice-president of Canadian Hadassah and a member of the national executive of the Z.O.C.
In dedicating the 4,000-square-foot new Recreational Centre, Dr. S. Margolese, Camp Chairman, stated that this new hall was being designated as a special mark of tribute to those pioneers who made Judaean camping in B.C. possible. A plaque bearing the names of the pioneers— Mr, and Mrs. Jules Ablowitz, Mr. Arthur Goldberg, Mr. and Mrs. M. Jacobson, Mr. and IMrs. I. Lipsky, Mr. and Mrs. D. Nem-etz, Mr. and Mrs. S. Rothstein, and Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Waterman—^'as placed in the building.
Speaking on behalf of the pioneers, who created the first Camp Hatikvah at Crescent Beach in 1948. Mr. Dave Nemetz
told some of the history of B.C. Zionist camping. He made special reference to the great role played in the Camp's beginning by Mrs. M. M. Waterman.
The new Recreation Centre was accepted on behalf of the Z.O.C. by Lionel Shapiro, a vice-president of the Pacific Region, Z.O.C.
A surprise presentation was made to Mr. Morris Feldstein, who was largely responsible for the Recreation Centre project. In presenting a special plaque to Mr. Feldstein, Dr. J. Secter lauded "the sterling work" of Morris Feldstein in this significant project. Dr. Secter went on to express his personal pleasure at being able to work closely in Zionist ranks with a man of Mr. Feldstein's calibre. Dr. A. Sou-dack, Camp Director, introduced the Camp staff.
Following the dedication service, a program of interpretive Israeli dancing was put on by the Camp Hatikvah campers. Individual dance selections were also performed by two of the camp counsellors, Linda Rubin and Morley Adelman.
Prior to the dedications, an impressive flag-raising ceremony was held with all campers present, and two veteran Zionists, Dave Nemetz and Sam Rothstein, were called upon to raise the Judaean ensign.
At the close of thfe activities, guests and campers, together enjoyed a refreshing swim in beautiful Lake Kala-malka, swimming from Camp Hatikvah's H-Dock.
