Program of Youn^ Judaea begins Sun.
Young Judaea begins a new reason of programmed activity for Jewish youth of Vancouver this Sunday. In this community in which many youth move-Tients and organizations function, many young people are not aware of the differences between and the specific values of various groups.
Young Judaea, the youth arm of the Zionist Organization of Canada, is a nation-wide movement involving 2,500 Jewish youth between the ages of nine and twenty-five. Its program is dir.ected towards imbuing its membership with the necessity for the physical and spiritual perpetuation of the Jewish people and Judaism, emphasizing the centrality of Israel in Jewish life.
This program is carried out by leaders who have been members of the rnovement for many years and who have undergone intensive training either at the national lead.ei'ship institute, Camp Biiuim, or at the new Western Region senior camp, located at Camp Hatikvah.
A full cultural, educational, and social program is carried out with each age group. Through the Young Judaean program members gain an understanding of themselves as Jews. They learn to appreciate the history and culture of the Jewish nation; they learn the values of group friendship, community service and good citizenship. They further come to realize their responsibilities as Jews, to themselves, to Israel, and to the world.
Young Judaea offers Jewish youth a healthy environment m which to grow, stimulates creativity, and challenges thought. It provides an atmosphere in which the Judaean may discover for himself a healthy set oi values upon which to govern himself for the rest of his life.
