Fireworks from English Bay
This year's Celebration of Light international fireworks competition runs on four evenings - two consecutive Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Italy will open the event July 31, followed by Canada on Aug. 3. Spain, the 2001 event winner, has been lighting up skies for more than 100 years. Tliis year's Spanish show, Aug. 7, wiU be set to the music of Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Genesis and the Corrs, among others. All three competitors will perform at the grand finale on Saturday, Aug. 10.
All events take place in English Bay, at a new start time of 10 p.m., rain or shine. Music will be simulcast on Rock 101 (101.1 FM). Tlie best viewing points will be English Bay, Kitsilano, Vanier Park, Jericho Beach and West Vancouver. For more information, visit www.celebration-of-light.com.
