^ ^ ^ Yet another foretaste of the glamorous thrills in store at the Angels' Ball on February 15 is the news, hot off the grapevine today, of special favors to be presented at the Ball to all angels. Certain delectable gifts (the gals, say, come to the Ball yourself, and admire them) are by Estee Lauder (a Yiddishe maidel?), and are most generously donated by those angels at the Hudson's Bay Company-— through their advertising manager, Mr. Peterson.

If your child lost a watch at the Centre last Sunday afternoon, chances are that Albert MeluL children's department supervisor, has it in his office. Albert reports that he has two watches in his office, found after the Sunday program, and would like to return them to their owners.

Wanted: Women for Winter Fun Camp. The Centre has "vacancies" for women aged 5, 6, 8 and 9 in the Winter Day Camp. A statistical count this week revealed a slight shortage of girls for the Camp, which opens on Monday morning. Girls of this age would be most welcome.

Season of goodwill brings bright item.—An electric Cha-nuka Menorah has been decorating the window of Macfarlane's Seafood Market on Granville this past week while in honor of Mr. Mac's Jewish customers. Mrs. Mike (Gertie) Lerner was asked by Mr. Mac what he could do in a personal way to wish his customers well for their holiday. . . . Incidentally, asked to relate the story of Chanuka, Gertie held both the owner and his other customers that were present, quite spellbound.

Hear and there: Young Sabra gals (Judy Fainstein sends in
such immaculately presented publicity for her chapter) have a poetess, or it may be plural. I Too bad space doesn't always I permit printing their lively i poetic efforts. . . Dr. Harry Stein, j UBC professor of education and past president of Congress here, has become a member of tlie national board of governors of Canadian Jewish Congress . . Overheard at the Centre during a recent big dinner at which water was conspicuously rationed, 'Well, this is the Negev Dinner, you know" . . . Still a few beautiful Israel Art Calendars at The Bulletin office for those who pre-pay their subscriptions or who become new subscribers. Hope you have yours. . . Lazar won't see you again till next year, in the issue of Jan. 3. . . Good luck, good health to our entire Bulletin family of readers. . .

Once upon a time there were two Council members hoping to be Angels. Their names were Nora and Schnora.
Now Nora was a wise Angel and collected clothes still warm from her family's backs to give to Thrift Shop. Every afternoon she could persuade her mother-in-law to babysit she devoted to working in Thrift Shop for credits for the Ball. It came to pass that many months before the Ball, lo, she was an Angel.
Now, there was Schnora, poor thing. No credits, no prospects of going to the Ball, no organization and busy, "mit gournicht." The Angels' Ball credit committee sat at their meeting knitting mohair sweaters like so many Madames Desfarges and shook their heads over the plight of poor Schnora—such a nice girl and such a bad manager.
Meanwhile, back at the old ranch style, Nora, who had a

One wet Vancouver Monday morning with the washing machine on the blink, two sniffling children at her heels and her eyes red with tears becau?3 she knew she'd never be an Angel, there was a ring at Schnora's
arms laden with good used m chandise (all buttons sewn washed and ironed). Dump the bundle on the rug and tur ing aside Schnora's half-heart protests, Nora said, "It is a fa far better thing I do now than" have ever done."
