Vancouver Hadassah women are singing the highest praises for last Wednesday evening, an evening that held everything: glamour, humor, warmth, beauty, music, dignity, and suspense. The excitement of the First, Hadassah Acaderny Award Night was augmented with a Special award this year, Mrs, Waterman cites the amazingly and unbelievably lengthy lists of projects chaired by the recipient, affairs convened, or executive positions held locally and nationally. Mar-jorie Groberman was named for the special award. With tears of ioy, which she transmitted to the whole audience, she came :orth to accept Hadassah's high-3st honor, while the assembly accorded her a long standing ovation.
Other winners of awards were: best handicraft produced by a chapter, Eilat; best individual er program, Nordau; kitchen queep;-Pearl Oroberman; the new personality of the year, Anita Gold;, best membership participation ph a project, Nordau; best chapter programming during year, Ghaim Weizmann; best new projecti Aviva; best chapter, Lillian Freiman.
The award presentations were witnessed by a fashionably attired audience festively seated at tables for service of dessert and coffee by candlelight. To complement the entire evening, musical selections were rendered by Mrs, Maurice Wosk on the violin accompanied by Mrs. T. Goldmaii.
Vancouver Hadassah Gouncil reported on completion of a most successful season, Mrs. M. J. Waterman in her presidential -eport reminded the audience of the many new changes and firsts hat took place. She named education and program, functioned with a co-ordinator, Mrs. Sidney Kaplan; the new chairmanship of "Cards and Certificates"; the many phases of membership, under a co-ordinator, Mrs, W. Lib-by.
With reference to Hadassah Day, "Vancouver's finest official opening of the season." Mrs.
for-their efforts in acquiring ful- • ^y paid up membership as of Nor~ vember 30. While speaking of membership Mrs. Waterman honored some of the ardent and dedicated workers,
"There are many of us who work arduously and continuously and long. But I'm afraid the best of records facie beside those of some of bur senior members. They work endlessly and devotedly at chapter level, many of them serve on Gouncil as well and they rarely, if ever, refiise a job. We appreciate , and love them dearly and are delighted to have the opportunity of presenting a Kov^d Pin to Mesdames Rose Cohen, Rae Morris and Ben Panar."
Mrs. Harry Lowe, Council treasurer, reported that Hadassah Council had not only completed a highly active year within programming and memt)er-ship, bu:t that they w€fre%iost successful in completinjg their commitment of $67,000.
