The Unemployment Insurance Commission said today
Card Thonks
Our very gratefuf appreciation for those friends who came for Memorial Services despite the very hazardous road conditions.
The Lesser Family.
that more than 6,000,000 Canadians h&ve registered for Social Insurance Numbers, the number that provides identity for unemployment insurance purposes and that v/ill become even more important to the individual when the Canada Pension Plan comes into effect. It was also noted that applications for Social Insurance Numbers are still being received at a rate of about 5,000 per day; Commission records reveal that many of these are from people who already have a Social Insurance Number.
The UIC enxphasizes that,
for their own good, Canadians must not have more than one Sjcial Insurance Number. Multiple registration can become a serious problem for the insured person, and could even lead to his being considered, at least temporarily, ineligible for unemplojrment insurance benefits.
The most common cause of multiple registration appears to be the frequent moving of persons from one job to another. The UIC also points out that there is a heavy penalty for persons knowingly registering for a Social Insurance Number more than once.
