There's music in the crested waves; The seagull's mournful cry; The foam that lines the broken shore; Their notes will never die.
The shells, worn smooth upon the sand; The drift-wood scarred with time; All tokens of a friendship wrought Betwixt me and the brine.
She travels far, the sea, she does; She knows forgotten lands. She brings great riches in her wake And strews them on her sands.
Her ceaseless tides, a timeless tune. Symbol for things I feel. And secrets of the universe. She lays them at my heeL
MANY SANCTUARIES or
synagogues replaced the Temple. Wherever Jews lived in a community where 10 male worshippers (MINYAN) could be mustered for public prairer, it was obligatory for them Xo build a synagogue. Iii this ^ay the entire community life of Jews began to centre around it.
ALL SYNAGOGUES, no matter what the style of local and contemporary architecture under which they were built, perpetuated the principal architectural elements of the Temple of Jerusalem—a vestibule, the hall itself and the holy Ark or chest containing the Scrolls of the Law.

In the vast tapestry of Jewish history, the history of the Jews of Spain has always been an area of special fascination for scholar and layman alike. Replete with exciting personalities and events, the story of Iberian Jewry has engaged the attention of both Jewish and gentile historians, for it is no mere religious history or monotonous chronicle of tragedy end woes.

A great day to discoverhowlrtHelong distance costs
On this special day the voices of loved ones, perhaps from hundreds of miles awray, have a speciar place in our hearts. Memories are sharpened, experiences recaptured. It is a day when togetherness means so much and-as always with B.C. TEL-costs so little.
Now a student son or daughter away at college can afford a tong distance cal! home (especially If they call "collect"!)-Long distance rates are among the; very few items of personal expenditures which, over the years, have lagged far behind the general rise in other living costs. In fact, many longdistance, calls actually cost less in dollars and cents today than 10 years ago. Moreover, after 6 pm and all day Sunday they are cheaper by about one-fifth.
Check the rates yourself in your telephone book or dial "O" and ask the operator. You'll be surprised how little it costs to
enjoy "the next best thing to being there." Here, for example, are a few current charges:
VANCOUVER-PRINCE GEORGE...........$1.35
NEW WESTMINSTER-CALGARY..........$1.50
VICTORIA-TORONTO...................$1.95
(Evening, station-to-station calls, first 3 minutes)
On this important day of the year there's more reason than ever to use Long Distance for all it's worth!
In Vancouver call 683-5511
If calling long distance, ask the operator for ZENITH 7000 (there is no charge).
