Mrs. Dennis Frankenburg will deliver the sermon when Beth Israel sisterhood celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the founding of National Women's League at Sabbath services on Friday, Jan. 20, at 8:15 p.m.
National Women's League, parent organization of the Sisterhood, was conceived by Mathilde Schechter as essentially an educational instrument for the Jewish mother and her family. It has grown to be the largest synagogue women's organization in the world numbering over 200,-000 women.
Central to the philosophy of N.W.L. is the ideal of the 'Total Jewish Woman', one who is concerned with the totality of Jewish life as well as the complex problems facing her country and the world today. The many facets of the N.W.L. program reflect this concern with N.W.L. committees actively engaged in adult education, Jewish Family Living, book publications, social action, the United Nations, Israel affairs, school relations, and Hebrew Braille, to list a few.
"In celebrating this Golden Anniversary, N.W.L. looks back on 50 years of magnificent achievement and draws from this the strength to face the enormous challenge facing the 'Total Jewish Woman' in the unknown years ahead," declared a Sisterhood officer.
The community has been in-
vited to attend the special Sabbath service and Oneg Shabbat celebrating this Jubilee year. Sisterhood women, led by Mrs. L. Plottel, national board member, will conduct the entire service, assisted by the Choir.
