S.T. CHEVRA KADISHA WILL GIVE $500 TO YESHIVA U.
Abe Wosk, president of Schara Tzedeck Chevra Kadisha, has announced presentation of a $500 gift towards Vancouver Yeshiva University Scholarship Fund.
Mr. Wosk said, "The cheque will be presented to the co-chairmen of the Yeshiva University Dinner, Jack Diamond and Ben Wosk, this Monday evening, Jan. 23, at the gala Yeshiva diner affair. The money was raised," continued Mr. Wosk, "through contributions made during funeral services at Schara Tzedeck chapel."
The funds will be used to aid any Vancouver student wishing to enter undergraduate or graduate divisions of Yeshiva University schools.
Evergreen pirns lively meeting on Wednesday
New applications for membership will be voted on at Evergreen lodge B.B. general meeting which will be held this Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the home of Mel-vin Charkow, 6107 Willow. Opening ritual commences at 8:15 p.m.
New applicants being voted on include Kenneth R. Fox, Arthur L. Hock, Leonard Hock, Ralph Jackson and Kurt Loebl.
Nomination of delegates to this summer's Grand Lodge convention is also on slate for the evening. President Mark Kohn will announce the upcoming six month lodge calendar and David Mandleman will report on a
couples bowling party programmed for Jan. 28.
Five vaudeville acts are billed for the regular monthly entertainment of Indoor Sports club residents at George Pearson hospital this Monday, Jan. 23, from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Evergreen members who can are asked to come and assist patients.
Jim Passell and Pati Taylor, with the Sparklers, plus world yo-yo champion Harvey Lowe, as engaged by Evergreen's Morrie Chazan, provided entertainment at Shaughnessy Military hospital auxiliary Christmas party last month.
TEEN PROBLEM SERIES ENDS WITH PR. AKIilS
Dr. Keith Akins, psychiatrist, i will be closing speaker in the 1 significant series on teen-age I problems, which has been co-i sponsored by National Council of I Jewish Women and Jewish Fam-;ily Service Agency. Dr. Akins will speak at the Centre, 8:15 p.m., in room 100 on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
, A graduate in medicine from I Queen's university. Dr. Akins received his training in adult psy-I chiatry at Harvard and in child j psychiatry at Hawthorne Centre, Michigan.
He is currently psychiatric consultant to the Children's Foundation, a residential treatment program for emotionally disturbed children, and is also instructor of child psychiatry at U.B.C. medical school. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Akins' special interests include children with reading problems and those with minimal brain injuries.
The concluding lecture in the special teen-age problem series is designed to help parents over the hurdles of childhood to deeper understanding of their motives of behavior.

A brand new type of entertainment for one and all, featuring various ethnic groups from this City, will be presented at the JewLsh Community Centre on Sunday, Feb. 26, 8 p.m., under direction of Mrs. B. Freeman, with ail proceeds going to the Camp Miriam Development Fund.
The colorful Ukranian Folk Orchestra conducted by Karl Kobylansky will perform as will Angel Monzon's Spanish Dance Troupe and the Italian "Gondolas", featuring Orlando. There will be a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan and many more outstanding artists, too numerous to mention.
