HISTADRUT CAMPAIGN FUNDS

Israel Histadrut committee has announced acceptance of A. J. Sacks to- chair the Annual Histadrut Banquet Fieb. 8.
Mr. Sacks, a graduate of University of Chicago in the field of human development, was a divinity student at Hebrew Theological College. President of Vancouver Talmud Tor ah Association, he new heads Tree Island Steel company.

A Centennial concert of distinctive merit was presented last weekend at West Van Community Centre featuring West Vancouver Senior Secondary School Choir and Vancouver ^ Jewish Community Centre String Orchestra.
The Centre Orchestra, conducted by Simon Streatfeild, received enthusiastic applause from a laf^e Audience. This npn-^pror f^ssional.-group .i)layed' with, yi-tali^y ^nd solidarity of tone. A spirited performance of Purcell's Chaconne in G minor opened the orchestral portion, followed by Mozart's Divertimento in F, Serenade in E flat by Joseph Suk and Vaughan William's Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. Reva Gerstein branch, NC'JW, are hosting a mid-winter musical party for Golden Age Club on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 8 p.m., in the Centre auditorium. Highlight of the program will be the junior Nirkoda dancers under direction of Linda Rubin.
Those attending must provide their own transportation to the party but transportation will be provided for their return home.
Mrs. L. M. Garfinkle is convener and Mrs. L. Bevan and Mrs. N. Norton are in charge of entertainment.

Rabbi Solomon attends Rabbinical conference
Rabbi Wilfred Solomon will attend the Western Conference of the Rabbinical Assembly which is being held in Palm Springs, California, Jan. 30 to Feb. 2.
Among the distinguished Conservative leaders who will be present are Dr. Mordecai Kaplan, and Dr. Simon Greenberg,' who will address the group on the state of the movement.
Rabbi Solomon has been invited to participate on a panel dealing with intermarriage. Fol-owing the Conference he will visit the University of Judaism in Los Angeles for the Sabbath of Feb. 3-4.

Xentre ijbraiy has new look, new books
The J.C.C. Library has taken on a new look with new Swedish book shelves and magazine racks. The children's corner is a colorful and lively place with vivid orange and black wrought.iron table and chairs. .
The heart of the Library is still its new books. Such recent volumes have arrived as: "The Sound of Bow Bells" by Jerome Weidman; "American Ghettos" by Elmer Gertz; "An Enemy of the People" by James Parkes; "Change and Challenge" by Oscar Janowski; as well as the current hits, "The Fixer" by Bernard Malamud, and the same story retold in "Blood Accusation" by Maurice Samuel.
It isn't necessary to go downtown or wait on a reserved book whei:i the J.C.C. Library is available with so many current popular books on Jewish themes.
