Sisterhood seis Torah Fund tea Sunday at B.L
Beth Israel Sisterhood will hold its annual Torah Fund Tea on Wednesday, June 21, in the Mac- \ cabee lounge of the synagogue, I from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ;
The change of time and place, \ which has been effected in re- " cognition of the grave situation in Israel, was stressed this week by Sisterhood officers. Holding the tea in the synagogue at this time is deemed a testimony to the ideal to which Sisterhood is dedicated, of maintaining Jewish life and leadership in the Diaspora, on which the future of Israel ultimately depends.
To emphasize further this vital link, those atending the tea will hear from Mrs. Myer Wine, and from Rabbi Wilfred Solomon, who will discuss briefly, Israel today and the strong links between Israel and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. The tea is being convened for
Beth Israel Sisterhood by Mrs.
. Ed MaUek and Mrs. Harry Baker.

SPIRIT OF JEWISH YOUTH
By LOUISE AVIVA KARMEL
There is a war in Palestine, An ancient war retold. Against an ancient foe reborn. About a cause thafs old.
Diaspora Jew, it's not your war;
Let them who live there fight.
Your home is here, your friends, and kin.
Their fate is not your 'plight.
"I am a Jew; it is my war;
and Israel is my land
though I live here. And I must go
Don't try to understand."
Diaspora Jew, you're young, you've time. Don't throw your life away. Think of your future, and your Right to Happiness. Then stay.
"/'m young, and I'll grow bid untried if I sit back to see tomorrow and another day. What use, then, youth to me?"
Diaspora Jew, you go, you fight. But you are ju^st one man. A'lone cry in the wild&t'ness Before a mighty van.
"'Tis true, I'm one, but many ones
combine to make a host.
and some and more become the many;
and many and moi^e are most.
And Israel is the land of Jews;
survived four thousand years the fate of empires; and grown strong on salt of martyred tears. Palestine, the Covenant between the Jew and God. and when 'tis lost, all Jews are doomed who dwell on earthly sod 'Think of the future^, is your plea. 7 am' is my reply. My future lives if Israel lives, or selfishly I die.
»
Diaspora Jew, if you must go. And if your cause be true. Let others go; why be the first? Why must the first be you?
"You say 'wait fox the other rruin.
Don't be the first in line*?
Perhaps I AM the 'Other Man',—
The task to lead, then mine.
And hence will I return again
to the homeland I've ne'er been;
and I vnll fight for what is mine
in the land that I've ne^er seen.
So shake your head, and walk away;
you'll never understand
the bond between a Jew, and that
God-Given Promised Land.
And now that land is torn with strife,
the Jordan River runs red.
Yet Milk and Honey washes o'er
The Dying and the Dead."
