Israeli Moslems flock to worship
JERUSALEM — Some 1,500 Israeli Moslems worshipped in Old Jerusalem recently for the first time in 19 years. Among them was a surprise visitor, Defense Ministed Moshe Day-an, who visited the Mosque of Al-Achsa and offered his assistance to the Muslims when needed.
Israeli Moslems from every part of Israel converged on the Old City, all of them to meet old relatives and friends from the other side. At the call for prayer there was a rush to the steps leading up to the Dome of the Rock.

CHANGES WERE REPORTED
affecting confessionality rules in Protestant and Catholic Quebec schools allowing students to abstain from religious courses if their parents so desire. Regulations stipulate: "No piipil in any public school recognized as Protestant shall be required to take such instruction (religious) or join in any exercise of devotion JOT religion when it is objected to in writing by his or her parent or guardian."
A rule also allows a teacher to be exempt from teaching re-ligicois courses when he is hired or re-hired. Another new regul-lation states that in Protestant secondary schools "a descriptive course in .religious beliefs, philosophy or ethics may be prescribed as an alternate or an addition" to the normal courses.
Reports stressed that "revised regulations set down for Catholic schools also allow a greater freedom to students whose parents wish them to be exempt from religious instruction. Regulations now say that a pupil attending elementary school may be exempt from religious instruction on written request from his parents. "At the secondary level, after consultation with parenfs, the principal may exempt a student from courses in Catholic religious and moral instruction. And, at post-secondary level, religious instruction becomes totally optional, again a radical departure from age-old practices of compulsory religious training.'

We use medical, psychiatric and psychological consultants as the need arises.
The work is often carried out in co-operation with organizations such as the Jewish Community Centre, the Jewish Heme for the Aged, and Social Welfare Agencies in Greater Vancouver. We make referrals to other Social Agencies, and accept referrals from Hospitals, the Court, Schools, Synagogues, Doctors and other individuals.
HOW ARE WE FINANCED?
Through allocations from the United Community Services of Greater Vancouver, through a grant from the Jewish Community Fund and Council and, at Holiday times, through some individual and organizational contributions.
