INVESTMENT GUIDANCE
WARNER & SWASEY
($50.50 New York Stock Exchange).
Following the news of the reinstatement of the investment credit, reports from the entire machine tool industry have been very encouraging. Warner & Swasey has been a major beneficiary of this activity and has been reporting a rising backlog in its machine tool business. Following the recent 5-for-4 stock split on July 14, accompanied by an increase in the dividend by 25% thereby maintaining a $1.60 annual rate on the new shares, Warner & Swasey has risen sharply. We look for earnings of $4 per share on the new stock and recommend it as a buy at this level.
