Songs and dances delight aadienee
Presentation of "Songs and! dances from around the world", held at the Centre as part of its] "Festival" confirmed many a belief that "Festivals have value".
The swirl of pipes and elegant Scottish dress . . . the Irish dancers who have the typical fey charm and freshness . . . Scandinavian and French Canadian! songs simg with special feeling! because the artists were native born . , . and Gerry Cohen, a performer of polish and ease, who j should have gone on for hours I ; with his Israel and Hebrew songs ... the audience loved them all as they did the Nirkoda and Contemporary dance group.
Choreography, costumes, lighting and versatility of the Nirkoda dancers was superb. It is I with the greatest reigret that we| hear that Linda Rubin, their director, will be leaving for the] big city, New York. We are con-i vinced that she will be going onward and upward. But our loss must be their gain and we shall I have a hard time to try and replace such talent.
Michael Goldberg did a marvellous job as M.C. But it was! the audience that was remarkable. The rapport was immediate! and results proved "A happening, an experience'. S.V.
