HABONIM activities begin tonight with a unique supper and Oneg Shabbat at the Centre, room 100, 6 p.m. Open to all Jewish youth in the community, the traditional Shabbat dinner will be followed by an evening of Hebrew singing and Israeli dancing. "Don't let lack of knowledge with this unique expression of Jewish life keep anyone from joining Habonim youth for the evening. Members of Habonim look forward to seeing all young people in the community join with us in welcoming Shabbat," said Lois Ornstein, newly elected president of Habonim.
"An Evening with Sholem Al-eichem", presented by one of Canada's most noted entertainers, will be a feature of the B'nai B'rith Israel Bond evening upcoming next Wednesday, Sept. 18, 8 p.m. at Blue Boy hotel. The function is open to the community at large.
Paul Kligman, a former resident of both Vancouver and Winnipeg, will appear here under auspices of Vancouver lodge, Lion's Gate lodge and Evergreen lodge.
The noted Canadian entertainer has won international acclaim for his comedy and acting abilities. "An Evening with Sholem Aleichem" marks his newest presentation, A long-standing C.B.C. personality, Mr. Kligman has appeared on the Wayne and Shuster shows and on the Ed Sullivan show. He has taken part
in a score of "Theatre Under the Stars" musicals here and in episodes of the television serial, Quentin Durgens, M.P." Alec Jackson and Morris Lank,

Vancouver Habonim elected Lois Ornstein as president during proceedings of a recent general meeting.
Miss Ornstein has been an active member of the group for 10 years, holding numerous leadership positions with Vancouver Habonim and at Camp Miriam. Last summer she attended Mach-aneh Bonim, a leadership training camp in New York for outstanding youth leaders in North America. This past summer she was senior girls' counsellor at Camp Miriam.
Serving as vice-president is ihoda Olin who has just returned rem Israel where she attended Machon leadership training institute.
Director of all counsellors will be Sandy Markell, who has been in Habonim for five years and also attended Machaneh Bonim last summer. She was a senior girls' counsellor at Camp Miriam this summer.
Serving as cultural chairman for 1968-69 term will be Bev Abramson, an active member erf Habonim, who has also returned from the Machon program.
Other members of the executive include Jon Gale, treasurer; Peter Garay, assistant; Ted Szre-dni, secretary, assisted by Dave Green; Carolyn Shaffer, assisting the cultural chairman; Stan Shawn, newspaper editor, assisted by Pat Hernon and Elliot Choit; Rami Argamani and Di-anne Campbell, newsletter editors, assisted by Karen Rabino-vitch and Richard Wenner; Michael Peled, liason officer to Seattle and Victoria Habonim.
